For kid toys is it cost effective to replace a $9,700 cost w/ a $2,800 cost that turns the toy into a drug?

DAR

"HONG KONG - China-made toys seized in Hong Kong were being tested Thursday after scientists in Australia found that similar ones contained a chemical that converts into a powerful "date rape" drug when ingested, officials said.

At least five children â two in the United States and three in Australia â have been hospitalized after swallowing the toy beads, which are used in arts and crafts projects. They can be arranged into designs and fused when sprayed with water.

Australian scientists say a chemical coating on the beads, when ingested, metabolizes into the so-called "date-rape" drug gamma hydroxy butyrate. When eaten, the compound â made from common and easily available ingredients â can induce unconsciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma and death."

Is there more to the higher cost of our toys than labor?

Answer
First our animals...now our kids.

This is a huge concern for parents and grandparents.

It's time to say no to any manufactured products from overseas that haven't been tested and approved.

With the Holidays coming, (I'm being very PC here while gritting my teeth) I'm adding this link to American made toys.

IS there a kids/toys website where I can pay in USD and ship to Australia?

Answer
There are many. I don't know what type of toys you're looking for but I highly recommend the following:

T.G.F. Toys
http://tgftoys.com/page/t4yl/Go_Shopping.html

BigBadToyStore.com
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/help.aspx#intl

Wizzywig Collectibles
http://wizzywig.com/xcart/help.php?section=shiphelp

Back To Basics Toys
http://www.backtobasicstoys.com/shipinfo.aspx

I have ordered from all the above retailers multiple times and have been very satisfied with my purchases. I will continue to shop and buy from each.

school kids birthday prezzies ?

mimi

my daughter is forever bringing home party invitations she even has 2 parties on the same day next week! i was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas of what to buy as spending about £15-£20 on each kid is getting rather expensive! i dont want to get anything that looks too cheap as it seems to be who can buy the best present when i go to kids parties these days. not that i agree with that. i always try to get as much as i can for them with the money like buying toys that are half price etc. the parties are for girls 5th birthdays.

Answer
Yes, this is an expensive stage.

I'm in Australia and things may be different here but I think you're being very generous. I'd only spend $20 - $25 on a gift, the $25 being for a good friend. Not exactly sure what that equates to these days but less than 20 pounds.

For girls, I go for some stuff from the Bodyshop - a pot of strawberry lipgloss, some bubble bath and one of those fruity soaps, all nicely wrapped or in a cute bag or whatever. Hairclips or other hair accessories would be good additions.

Boys are harder.

are toys imported from other countries checked?

jas

and who watches over the safety aspects of toy manufacture in australia?

Answer
Some toys are checked, but generally they aren't. All those toys that had lead wheren't checked, so alot of little kids got lead poisoning. But now they are checking them more often..

Where can I buy cheap toys in australia?

Has A

any good online kids toys store?

Answer
I have couple of toddlers at home, So I spent quite sometime online looking for some good deals in kids toys. There are many online store for preschool kids toys. But my favorite one is FSTORE.

FSTORE have good toys collections and all backed up with money back guarantee. They also offers variety pack which is like a basket of different toys but much cheaper than buying individual items.

Free Delivery, If buying more than $80 they also give away free postage australia wide.

Free Pick Up, As store is located in North sydney you can also pick up your item from the store for free of charge.

Gift Wrap, If buying gifts for friends, you can also request for a gift wrapping. with additional $2 dollars you can have your gifts wrapped beautifully.

Gift Certificate, If you can't decide what to buy for your friends then you can also purchase gift vouchers of any value.

Best of all if you like to touch and feel the toys at your own place, then FSTORE comes to you. you can organize MEET FSTORE party at home and invites all your friends and fstore will bring all of its collection to your place.

My experience so far with FSTORE has been great, I truly believe what they say, Australia's Best Value Toys and Gifts Store.

Give it shot.

Okay im 14 and cannot get a gun until im 16 (parents said at 16 i can get a shotgun for hunting). I dont really ever answer questions in here but i do read them to learn. With that said im going to take a risk of severe verbal abuse from you guys. But i do play a little airsoft it is something i can do that gets me up and exercising and losing weight that i gained from a severely broken leg. With all that said im asking you guys if they ban assault weapons will they also ban airsoft toys like Australia did. I know this isnt a gun or hunting question so im asking you guys could you please politely answer my question i just know from the questions i have read most of you are legally smart.

Also to make this a little more hunting related, when i turn 16 i was thinking of telling my parents i want a remington 1100 is that a good shotgun for hunting things like ducks or geese?

Thank you in advance to all that answer my question and happy holidays.

Answer
Nobody knows, kid. You have to wait and see like everybody else. Personally, I think they should ban all AK & AR type toy guns. Kids don't need that stuff. Take up jogging.

Yes, a Remington 1100 is a good shotgun.

How to calm down a child with anxiety?

Ariana

I worked at what's called "After School Care", where we deal with primary school kids (aged 4 to 12) before and after school, and during the school holidays. The majority of the kids that we work with are pretty relaxed- between all of the toys and activities we arrange for them, visiting can be the highlight of their day.
Being in Australia, the new school year started in late January/early February, so the kids have all had time to settle down. However there is one particular child (she's in prep, so about aged four or five) that is still suffering from quite a lot of anxiety. She is clearly taking a lot longer than the other newcomers to settle in. For a while she found it difficult to separate herself from her Mum in the mornings (which resulted in tears), and in the afternoons she'd often end up crying about how much she missed her (which is understandable, what with her being so young and suddenly being away from the comfort of home 5 days a week). Thankfully we've managed to calm her down to the point where she isn't so worried about leaving her parents anymore.
Unfortunately, she seems to have taken a particular liking to one other staff member and myself (me in particular). When it comes time to walk her down to the classroom before school starts, she often becomes very clingy and breaks down into tears, and we usually end up having to pry her off our legs and over to her teacher. As for when she sees us wandering around the school, she'll often run over, bear hug you, and not want to let go.
She's an absolutely gorgeous little girl, and I always feel terrible for having to leave her feeling so anxious. I should also probably mention that she's rather frightened of the 12 year old boys, who are considerably larger (and a hell of a lot rougher) than she is.
We try to make her experience as relaxed as possible by engaging her in activities such as drawing or colouring in (which she adores), but what are some other things that can be done to try and calm her down, and make her a little happier about going off without us?

Answer
Dancing? music?
