Toys for 12-18 months?

I've been getting some great deals on toys for my 8 month daughter at garage sales recently; it occurs to me if I was smart, I would stock up a bit for the future as well. But I don't know what toys are appropriate/best/most loved by older babies!

A really great toy for that age is the Aqua Doodle. Beginning at this age, kids LOVE to draw on things! But giving a child this age a pen or crayon is a destructive idea. Aqua Doodle uses a water pen, so if they want to draw on other things there are no problems!

My 18 month old son lets other kids take toys away from him?

Hi, my son is very actice, he loves to play, run, climb, socialize with other kids... However, I've started to notice whenever he has a toy and a kid comes and takes it from him he will try to take it back, but if he can't he would just go away and get another toy.
It seems he doesn't really care or he doesn't want to confront other kids. My son doesn't cry, doesn't get upset, he just walks away and finds something else. He also shares. However, kids of his age do not share, and scream and say NO!

Maybe my son isn't aggresive enough or doesn't have a strong personality. I don't want other kids to take advantage of him. What do you think? What should I do?

Don't try to change your son. You should be happy with the way that he will just go and grab another toy. My nephew was like that with all of my cousins. They are all older then him. When he was a baby he'd find another toy to clam himself so he can go back to playing. However he is 4years old and if you take his toy he hits you, bites you anything and everything. Let him come around if he wants the toy he will get it back. Don't try to change him if there is now real problem.

my daughter is forever bringing home party invitations she even has 2 parties on the same day next week! i was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas of what to buy as spending about £15-£20 on each kid is getting rather expensive! i dont want to get anything that looks too cheap as it seems to be who can buy the best present when i go to kids parties these days. not that i agree with that. i always try to get as much as i can for them with the money like buying toys that are half price etc. the parties are for girls 5th birthdays.

Yes, this is an expensive stage.

I'm in Australia and things may be different here but I think you're being very generous. I'd only spend $20 - $25 on a gift, the $25 being for a good friend. Not exactly sure what that equates to these days but less than 20 pounds.

For girls, I go for some stuff from the Bodyshop - a pot of strawberry lipgloss, some bubble bath and one of those fruity soaps, all nicely wrapped or in a cute bag or whatever. Hairclips or other hair accessories would be good additions.

Boys are harder.

There are toy giveaways every year in our town. Check out organizations online like "Angel Tree" and "Toys for Tots" - I'm sure they will have information on how you can get on their lists. I always give to those organizations - I know what it felt like as a kid to not have anything for Christmas sometimes. I hope you can get in touch with them. Q. When I was little I watched a show (or maybe movie) about these fairies/ princesses who fought evil and had gem powers. I cannot remember what it was called. Does anyone know? I think it had something to do with sky or rider in the title. Not Winx.

Sky Dancers is the name of a line of toys that was popular in the mid-1990s. The toys were constructed of a pull-string base and a doll with foam wings. When the doll was inserted into the base and the string pulled, the doll would launch into the air, spinning its wings like a propeller as it flew. Five characters were created: Jade, Camille, Breeze, Angelica, and Slam. The toys were launched during the 1994 Christmas and holiday season and were an instant hit. While its foam wings provided a limited amount of safety, there were over 100 injuries reported. Galoob, the manufacturer of the toys, recalled them in June 2000 after less than six years on the market. The toys were re-released in 2006 with an adapted design. Galoob released a similar toyline aimed at boys called Dragon Flyz.

The series spawned an animated television spinoff produced by Abrams Gentile Entertainment in association with Xilam in 1996. The five characters were said to be students at the High Hope Dance Academy under the widowed Queen Skyla. Queen Skyla and her students defended her kingdom from Skyla's jealous brother-in-law Sky Clone, who sought revenge for his brother Skyler (Skyla's husband) being selected as king over him. Toddler Still Not Walking???

My 15 month old is not walking and we have tried physical therapy but it was not beneficial (therapist was just playing games with baby).

Does anyone have any tips that can encourage toddler to walk quickly..

Baby did not have a walker till very recently and I make sure I supervise her till when she is walking with the walker..

You probably don't have much to worry about, as kids can take as long as 18 months to start walking and still not be considered 'delayed'. Talk to your pediatrician about it, as s/he will know better your daughter's actual situation.

The therapist was probably doing the right thing by playing games with your baby. Children learn through play, and their play usually is based upon the skills they need to learn.

However, if you want your toddler to actually toddle, the best thing you can do for her is make her walk while you hold her hands. Most pre-walking kids think this is one of the most fun activities of all time, and some get very upset when you stop. Start by holding both of her hands and supporting as much of her weight as she needs. Gradually let her support herself more and more, until she can walk holding on with just one hand for balance.

Push toys are also good. Walkers, on the other hand, don't strengthen a child's upper legs and back. Children who spend a lot of time in walkers (on average) walk two months later than those who don't. On the other hand, they're a lot of fun to zip around in, so there's a reason babies like them.

Most kids find it easier to learn to walk barefoot or in soft slippers, but if she stands on her tiptoes she may do better in hard soled shoes.

My 15 month old refuses to walk...?

So I have 3 kids and our youngest is 15 months old, soon 16 in a couple days. He is refusing to walk. Our daughter walked at 11 months and our other son 13..They are 5 & 8 now and carry our littlest everywhere. I know all kids learn at different times, but it is starting to erek me a little lol. Just curious if any ones little one is like this too, or if anyone has any good ideas to get him motivated. We play the walk between mom and dad game every night and he also has push toys..but with two older siblings who adore you..why would you walk!! HA HA!! Thanks everyone!!
We barley do carry him and we walk with his hands all the time, just when we go to stand him up he goes into the pike position. And also I don't mind playing the walking games with him, his dad and I enjoy it, he just doesn't like it very much.

He has no reason to walk. Your older kids carry him about.
Put an end to that.
Get him some pushing toys and pulling toys.
