Where can I find toys made in the USA or atleast not made in China?

I am afraid to buy toys made in China for my kids. I have 2 birthdays and Christmas coming up. Where can I get toys not made in China and what brands are they?

Try www.oompa.com. The toys are a little pricey, but for the most part they are made in Europe, which means very high standards. Also just keep checking the boxes, I was able to find some stuff at Target the other day. I still have yet to find toys made in the US that were not handmade and I have been looking

I think it is good to buy the children vintage toys from GOODWILL and The Salvation Army
and thrift shops. As they are safe unlike the recalled ones this year and last.

This could be a good idea, just make sure to check out the Consumer Product Safety Commission website at www.cpsc.gov to make sure these toys haven't also been recalled. Also, remember that many toys are still manufactured right here is the USA. According to a Fox News article printed on Aug. 16th, the following toys are still made in the USA:

What are the best and most unique souvenirs/gifts from the United States?

In July I will be taking a trip to Brazil for the WYD. While there, I will be staying with one (maybe two) families. And as a thank you for letting me (and my group) stay in their homes, I would like to 'bring a gift from the US for them. It can't be anything too specific like shirts or toys for little kids as we don't know the specifics of the family. (Though in retrospect, there will be children, we just won't know how many). Anyways, I need ideas of what would be a nice inexpensive gift to show my thanks and appreciation that the whole family would use/ like.

Since we are US-Ukraine company, we can give the right answer (though it is for sure there is no right or correct answer on this questions) .
As Ukrainian (or Brazilian) I would love to get some cups with symbols of the USA on them. Or some pens or some place, notebook - everything with and in colors of US. Caps will work fine too.
Umbrella.... Just small stuff with ... yes, right, with symbols of US on them.
As US - well, anyway, all American stuff is made in China ... and who knows if my Brazilian pals have any problems if they show up with the stuff that I can bring from US with American symbols everywhere.
I guess, it would be better if I just buy something expensive but really necessary , like small cute camera or radio or something like this. I need to go to yahoo answers and look for reallly good advise .:-)

Why isn't Yahoo reporting that Mattel apologized to China?

It was such a HUGE deal when Mattel and the entire USA condemned China for all of the defects, recalls, faulty toys, etc., when Mattel reported it. Now, today, Mattel formally apologized to China for falsely accusing them of wrongdoing. as it turns out, there was a very small quantity of a toy with lead paint (which is legal in China) found, and all of the other problems were MATTEL DESIGN FLAWS!!!

So where are the huge headlines condemning Mattel, to match the ones that condemned China initially?

The reality is, Mattel makes HUGE profits by manufacturing in China, and most of us could not afford to buy our kids toys if they were not made there.

I don't feel sorry for Mattel at all. Too many products are made overseas because of cheap labor.

What do you do with your kids on rainy days?

We generally paint, bake, play with plasticine, do puzzles or word find books. Just wondering what you do with your kids, because sometimes it's a bit of struggle to think up new activities.

I do some of the things you mentioned plus a few more. One day we made Playdoh. It was very messy but they had a lot of fun. Here's a website that shows a few different ways to do it:

We play I Spy, turn on the radio and dance, sing, play games together on the computer. There's also a great website for that if you have younger kids. It has several games and printable activities.

We build castles out of Lego blocks, play with cars, dolls and all of their other toys. They don't get bored as fast if my husband or I play with them. We use our imaginations also. We play Dr. with stuffed animals and baby dolls, play boat, shark or alligator by putting a blanket in the floor and pretending that it is the boat. One person is the shark or whatever you choose and tries to grab the other players. Whoever gets tagged then turns into the animal.

There is also a lot of craft ideas on the internet and in local stores.
