What are some good travel toys? FAST

gracie<3

What are some good travel toys for an airplane with 3 kids. One 3 year old girl, 9 year old boy and 11 year old girl.

oh, and the airplane ride is about 6 hours[two different flights, 1st one 1 hr and the other is 5 hrs and is today

thanks

Answer
Coloring books, they are quiet. Bring books that you can read to them. If you have action figures or plush toys bring those, as they won't irritate the other passagers with repetative noises. Try not to bring hard plasitcs if at all possible, as kids will be kids and will bang on things with them for noise. Most airlines will have movies on, so that can occupy them for at least an hour (hopefully). Just try to pay attention to them and keep them busy. Play "eye spy" or have them draw you pictures of what they are looking forward too. Lots of ideas, just have to use your imagination, and keep theirs working too!

Flying with young kids?

Keri C

Tomorrow morning I am headed out to Salt Lake City, UT to visit my father and grandparents. I have a 20 month old daughter, who has flown before and a new 7 week old daughter. I'm pretty stressed about how to handle airports with little ones and carseats and toys etc... We are flying out of Manchester and into Detriot for a 1hr layover... I'd really like some helpful tips and advice from other parents who have flown with litttle kids.

Answer
honestly its very hard,i travel with my kids all the time now age 3 and 5.i would suggest get a magazine for older daughter and maybe something to colour in.also be prepared that their ears might hurt.obviously make sure their fed n always have water and snacks, they might sleep through the journey if you re lucky.
don't be embarrassed to ask for assistance from staff, and if you have luggage that you re taking on board you will have to get a passenger to help you as you cant carry your baby, hold on to your young daughter and carry bags.whenever i fly i feel like a superwoman lol

Good LUCK!!!

where to find cheap/good kids toy storage?

whisper to

My sister has a bunch of toys piled up around our fireplace like a WALL, we are in dire need of some good space saving but gotta stretch the dollar, anyone got any good ideas besides walmart/ikea?

something that would be easy for her to find toys & put toys back herself, thanks much!

Answer
It would depend on the size of toys. You can check out craigslist and look for a bookshelf type piece that suits your height/length and stack the toys that way. You can also post "wanted" ads on craigslist free. Check out your local Goodwill or Salvation army or second hand store. It is also fairly easy to build a sort of shelf and easy too. You can search online by typing "how to build a shelf" and you can find step by step instructions as well as a list of what you will need. Then you can have the kids paint the shelf and make it their own. If the toys are smaller, Dollar Tree has tons of Sterlite tupperware type stuff. They are advertised as shoe "boxes", but we use them to store in small pieces and barbie dolls etc. They are clear with either a blue or white lid. We have a ton of them in our house, I use them as a makeup "bag" in the bathroom. They are also great for traveling. Good Luck! I know toys DO pile up, you should see our house!

Any suggestions how to entertain/occupy kids while on an 8 hour flight?

Also, anyone with a big family whose been there and has advice about air travel would be appreciated.

"Guess the city" sounds like fun...except that we'll be over water almost all of the tme LOL. Thanks for these answers; I totally would have forgotten pilows! =)

Answer
It depends on how old the kids are
1-2 years old a few small hand toys -nothing with a bunch of little parts on any age.
2 - 3 a few small toys and a 2 books
4 - 7 some colors in a bag 1 color book , a book to read, a travel game.
8 and up a book to read, ipod, and a hand held game.
If the kids are old enough have them put their stuff in a small bag / purse and carry it if the kids are little maybe you can put each child's in a large zip lock bag and put their name on each bag, then put them in 1 large bag for you to carry, you can also put any baby food, snacks, and baby milk, diapers, wipes in the big bag - maybe use one of those cloth grocery bags with handles.
Try to take as little as you can on board .
as for little ones who can walk but might wounder off get a child leash - one that fits around the chest not just on the wrist I always hated them until my first flight with a 3 year old and it became my best friend, with the older kids make them buddy up ,
do a bathroom run before the flight, any stop overs and right after, you have plenty of time before your luggage gets to turn table.
and if the kids can have it make sure they have some gum for take off, if the kids are to little make sure they have a drink at take off time, it will help with ear popping. If your child needs a car seat in the car you could also check to see about useing a car seat on the flight - but be aware that it is a big hassle to carry one from plane to plane if you don't have any help, and you can't use buster (sp) seats on the plane but need them for the ride after the trip pack them in a suitcase so you don't have to buy new ones just for a vacation.

My kids, 9 an 7 and I are going it alone, without dad, for the first time on an airplane. The flight is about six hours. I want to make sure they are busy during the flight. Any fun games I can print out or puzzles I can take along to keep them from annoying everyone around us??

Answer
That's so wonderful of you to think ahead like this because many mothers don't! I've experienced some of the most nightmarish flights because of those mothers too!

Will they have homework to complete? If so, then they could do that. Coloring books? Toys R Us usually has an abundance of travel games. Just make sure they don't have annoying noises.

What are the current fashion trends and popular toys for younger girls in South Korea, ages 8- 12?

Q. We are traveling in August to South Korea to pick up our adopted son. We want to take gifts for the foster family. They have an 8 year old girl and an 11 year old boy. Are there any particular items from America that they would really love? Maybe a brand or a certain item that is hard to get there?

Answer
usually things that are made in the usa are considered popular in korea because they are pretty westernized here. however, for younger kids you can pretty much pick up anything from toys 'r' us. seriously.
