toddler toys are their favorites?

Sexy Ma

What is your toddler "boys" favorite toys and are worth the money?

Answer
My 2 1/2 year old is absolutely in love with Diego. (It has been a life saver in so many areas! We did his room entirely in Diego, and it actually helped him transition from his crib to the toddler bed with no problems. Anytime he doesn't want to go to bed we just get him excited about his Diego bed!)For Christmas we bought him the big rescue center and his grandpa got him a different one. We can now just buy him the extra animals that go with it when we want to get him a new toy. He gets so excited about these! He takes the animals with him every time we go somewhere that he might get bored, including restaurants. They make a little case specifically for them.

As for other toys that have been worth the money, he likes any form of toy car. He has everything from hotwheels to tonka trucks. I love watching him dig through his toy box and picking out all of the cars (no matter what size) so he can play with them together. He also loves animals (part of this stems from his love of Diego) and dinosaurs. We bought him the little packs of 50 animals and 50 dinosaurs for about $2.88 at walmart and these have been amazing! He can sit there and make each animal noise (again learned mostly from Diego) and he loves to make the dinosaurs roar.

The best toys to get for your son are whatever suits his personality. If he has a tv show that he loves, get toys that are related to that. For my son it not only ensures that he plays with them, but it also makes him get more into the educational shows. He's learning spanish, animal noises, and counting way before I thought he'd ever learn it. The only things that I really try not to waste my money on are toys like leapfrog and baby einstien. He's never really gotten that into them, as there is nothing in them that he can relate to. I've known several people who spent alot of money on these things for their kids to never touch them. I know they are supposed to be very educational, but so far my son has learned more from the toys that you would think of as mere novelty.

Good luck!

Essential toys for toddler boys?

I want to buy some toys for my son, who will be one this fall. He really doesn't have many toys right now, he'd rather play with the remote. But we want to get him some more interactive, imagination/or educational toys. The only toys I can really think of are blocks and maybe a pedal car. I don't really want to introduce him to war toys, though. What are the favorite toys is your little dude's toy box? We are talking like, 1-3 year old here.

Answer

Boys having girls toys.?

BABY BOY!

Do you think its ok to give your toddler son a pram, doll or doll house ect...along with others of course? i know many mothers who have...but my nephews grandmother seems to think its wrong and that he'll turn out gay ir sumthin!!! in my opinion if he turnt out gay it wouldnt have anything to do with the fact of giving him that when he was younger!!!

Answer
It's fine. I have three boys and my youngest who is 3 started playing with this baby doll and carrying it around the house ever since he found out I was pregnant with a baby girl. We also have one of my old doll houses in their playroom and he uses it as a "secret hide out" for his action figures. My husband finds it a little weird, but it's not the end of the world nor is it going to make someone gay. If that were true, there wouldn't be that many straight guys today. You'd be surprised at the number of men who played with dolls, dress up clothing, barbies, cribs etc. They grow out of it just likes girls eventually grow out of the stage themselves.
Best wishes =]

Toddler Art Projects?

Emily

I have 2 18m old little boys...they just eat crayons and have absolutely no use for them...they love to paint, but they get bored after a while....what are some fun art things i can do with them at this age?

Thanks!

Answer
Start an alphabet collage with your toddler. Go through old magazines and have them cut out letters from the titles of articles. These will generally be much larger and will be easier for your toddler to cut out. Glue the same letter on a sheet of paper, and then go back through the magazine looking for pictures of items starting with that letter. For instance, A - apple, alligator, adding machine, etc. You'll end up with 26 pages, one for each letter, as well as a front cover and back cover. Your toddler will begin to learn their letters and the sounds the letters make.

Paint rocks

Making Tracks: Lay down newspaper on the table or get your art table ready for a paint project. Find one or more old or little-used toy cars or trucks with ridges on the wheels. On a piece of scrap paper, put down a few small dollops of paint in different colors. Then give your toddler a big piece of construction paper for the âroad.â Have him âdriveâ the car through one color of paint, then âdriveâ the car across his page, making colored tracks. Repeat with a different color or another vehicle with different track marks.

Vegetable and fruit printing. Cut a variety of fruit and vegetables in half. Put a little paint in a few plates and show your toddler how to print them on paper.

Mosaic-Rip up a variety of colored paper and have them glue the pieces together to make a picture.

What would be some inexpensive valentines gifts for toddler boys and girls?

I am having a Valentines party for toddlers and I am doing a fishing for prizes game and I need some cheap little toys for prizes. Preferably something I could buy in bulk (playdough, etc.).

Answer
Head to your local dollar store! You can find loads of stuff there, and many times they come 6 or 8 to a package.

I know that some of the big box stores also had things like card games and bubbles in multi-packs for fairly cheap as well.

You could also do a toy swap for the prizes. Ask all of the guests to bring a wrapped gently-used toy that they haven't played with in some time. Each child would go home with a new to them toy, and the parents would be able to clear out something that was taking up space instead of adding more to the pile that we all have! :)

How can I get two toddler boys to share toys and play better together?

mommy06880

I currently babysit for a friend who has a two year old boy who is very laid back and calm. My son on the other hand (20 months) is super active and a little crazy. They both play pretty well together however, I am constantly having to stop the figthting over toys as soon as one picks it up the other wants it. I know I can not fully break them of this, they after all are toddlers but what can I do to help?

Answer
There are some age appropriate toys that have multiple sets of things, which they can both play with at the same time. Or a project that they both contribute to assembling...something big enough that they can work on it without getting in each other's space. May I suggest Place & Trace by Discovery Toys...a set of three separate puzzles geared to their age. Give each boy one puzzle with its 4 pieces. They can complete the puzzle, use it to cut out Play Doh, or even cut out cookie dough and bake cookies in fun dinosaur shapes or transportation or house pet (each puzzle has a different theme). Often, an open-ended toy will be played with in different ways by different kids. That's what you need to look for.

How can I decorate a nursery for a toddler boy and an infant girl?

I know that the most obvious stuff is ocean/tropical, or barnyard/jungle themes, but my house is modern and my husband and I thrive on all things monochromatic and clean lines.. My baby boy's nursery is baby blue and brown. The childlike accent thrown in is a few fluffy sheep:). We are expecting a baby girl next year and only have one room available to serve as the nursery.. any ideas?

Answer
I am really attracted the the new baby colors of pink and brown. Since the boy's room is already blue and brown, could you put some accents on her side of the room that are pink and brown?

Also, you could find a pink sheep, or tie a pink bow on a sheep.

What is a calm way to handle your three toddlers when they make a huge mess of your house?

I have three boys ages four and under. They like to tear up my house and when I tell them to clean their mess up they tell me to shut up. I yell and discipline them but sometimes they still just look at me. What is something you may recommend that I do. Please help!

Answer
First, I would recommend time out.

Second, I would try the trash bag method. When they refuse to clean up. Get a trash bag and tell them if you won't clean up I will. When they ask what you are doing with there toys tell them you are taking them away. They usually panic and go into a cleaning spree. When they start cleaning you stop. Take the trash bag full of toys and put it away where they can't get to it. If they show good behavior toys can be earned back. Example tell them the next night if they clean up all the toys they can earn one back.

Turn off the tv and radio so it is really boring and they have nothing to do other than clean.

Most importantly, tell them during the day. You need to put some off your toys away before you get more out that way at the end of the day things are not so unbearable.

Its basically teaching good habits and standing your ground.

How to handle a toddler after twins are born?

Our toddler is acting up and getting more easily upset since our twins were born. I realize there is a regression, but not sure how to handle it correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
LOL, Martha. I don't think it is a sin......

Answer
I agree with your other poster. Get your toddler to help with bottles and diapering. Have her hold one of the babies on her lap. Praise her for being "such a good big sister".

I'm a mother of twins myself. My boys are adults now. Never buy two of the same toy. They'll leave one sit and fight over one, even though they're identical items. Lay them down to sleep in the same crib. It makes them feel more secure. My twins had separate beds but still slept together until they were 12. They are going to have that deep spiritual bond where they're glued together and you never see one without the other. They're also going to be extremely competitive and fight like cats and dogs, sometimes coming to physical blows. Don't worry. It blows off, they're best friends again and forget all about it in 5 minutes. Warn their girlfriends or boyfriends that if they date one twin, they date the other because he'll always go along. One girl told my son it was her or his twin. He said, See ya.

Always take the one who cries the loudest first and tune the other ones out. They're just going to have to wait their turn. You only have two hands. It's okay to prop bottles when you have twins. Use one feeding dish and one spoon. Go back and forth between the two babies. Saves lots of time and crying. Buy the kind of stroller where the seats face each other or you have one seat behind the other. Side by side strollers won't fit through checkout counters or narrow aisles in stores.

Don't get too discouraged when you hear rude comments about birth control or "Oh, you must be busy" for the zillionth time.

Email me if you need any pointers. Will be glad to help.

What is the best toy you ever bought your toddler?

twinsmama0

I am looking for toys for my soon to be 2 year old twins. They don' t play with very many things and I was wondering if any mom's or dad's have any suggestions.
Sorry - they are b/g twins. I should have said that.

Answer
Well, I'll write this for both boys & girls...and assume they share. All of these are really fun and have occupied my kids or my friend's kids for a while.

Wheely Bugs - These are adorable soft ride on toys. They are a huge hit with kids 2+ years old. Gender neutral ones are the bee and cow.
http://www.babyearth.com/prince-lionheart-wheely-bug-small.html

Busy Go & Grow Giraffe - Another ride on toy that is a great option for toddlers.
http://www.babyearth.com/playskool-busy-go-grow-giraffe.html

Monte Carlo Car - One more ride on option. This is the ultra-sporty car for a boy and the same car for a girl but it's pink with flowers.
BOYhttp://www.babyearth.com/lc-creations-ride-on-monte-carlo-car.html
GIRLhttp://www.babyearth.com/lc-creations-ride-on-flower-car.html

Mega Maze - My kids love to play in this and they really use their imaginations. It's great if you have room for it. Toy says for ages 3+ but smaller kids can play with it too.
http://www.babyearth.com/active-edge-mega-maze.html

Monster Bowling! This is a great toy for twins because they can take turns and play with it together. It's plush so it's pretty safe too. Kids think these little monsters are very funny.

Best of luck!
