Non-breakable/toddler friendly nativity scene??

Q. Does anyone know where I can find kid friendly nativity scene? I have quite a bit of decor; however, A LOT of breakables so I am not putting them out this year due to having a 16 month old. Can anyone recommend a website or a store that has things that are OK if my daughter gets into them. I don't want anything plush for my own decor. Thanks!

Answer
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=traditional+wood+toy+nativity+set&meta=

I don't know where you live but you should be able to find something nice in that list.

Some of the ones at:
http://www.oodlesoftoys.co.uk/index.php?page=cat&id=55&maincat=16
http://www.clementinetoys.com/acatalog/Buy_Wooden_toys_fun_stuff_3.html

are pretty cute

toddler friendly holidays/vacations?

just want a list of a few places and what attractions they have, i don't want a 10 page travel guide please :l
live in the UK, preferably wanting to go abroad

Answer
well if you want to stay in the UK, try glynn barton cottages in cornwall by newquay. there cottages designed for toddlers, which have a cot, high chair, bed guards, monitors, toddler beds, child friendly crockery etc. the site also has things to do such as a indoor swimming pool, indoor soft play barn, play room full of toys, tennis court, childrens play area and climbing frames, animals to feed and eggs to collect etc
and theres loads of things around like a beach in a 30 min drive, riding stables 8 miles away, and within 15 miles theres dairlyland farm world, crealy adventure park and within 20 miles theres a newquay blue reef aqaurium, newquay zoo and water world
http://www.glynnbarton.co.uk/fun_the_toddlers.htm

lapland - only a 3 hour flight and loads to do, such as see santa, snowmobile rides (children can ride in the things that trail behind tho i dont know what there called) reindeer rides, husky rides, tobogganing etc and im sure if you wrap your toddler up warm he/she will love it and love the snow
loads of websites for holidays in lapland although i recommend http://bookings.firstchoice.co.uk/lapland/

paris - i think its only a 2 hour flight and loads of stuff to do too, a main one is disneyland, theres another theme park like parc asterix (all designed for kids), sight seeing such as going up the eiffel tower although i hope your toddler isn't afraid of heights! go for a cruise on the river seine, kids science museum called cité des sciences et de l'industrie or maybe a zoo called parc zoologique de paris

or again just stay in the uk and go to butlins which has swiming pools, free fun fair, golf, go karts, shows and entertainment on all the time etc

hope i help and have a nice holidayy x

toys for 4 month old girl? 10 points best answer?

Q. Hi all im trying to find toys for my daughters christmas presents she will be 4 months by christmas and ive looked on ebay and early learning centre and everything i find seems to be for toddlers. any suggestions on what i can buy or where i can look in the UK?
thanx in advance x

Answer
mothercare do amazing textured soft abc cubes, as well as soft rattles and great play gyms.
also noisy animal sound books are great as well as textured books - from amazon
toys r us had good stick down toys for weaning and hanging bar toys for car seats - my daughter loved all of these - i introduced her to harder rattles and toys t 5 months so these could bea good gift bought in advance for use after the new year. A door swing is also great fun for building strength in her legs and a baby walker all found at mothercare - shecan use these as long as she can hold her own head up and has good posture.

good luck

Where can you buy a toy sewing machine for a 3-year-old?

Elle

The only ones I've found are real, working machines. Obviously I need something that doesn't use a real needle, a toy machine suitable for a toddler. I found some vintage ones made in the 70s on eBay but nothing new. Does anyone know where I can buy a new one?

Answer
Try amazon.co.uk. they usually have new and old ones.

or woolworths online.

Opinions on walkers & table/chairs for toddlers please *pics*?

My baby fa

Hi there,

Just wanting some opinions on some things I'm looking to buy for my baby boy who's 9months and wanting to pull up on everything.

1/ This converts from a walker to a ride on to a trolley - http://www.flickr.com/photos/28757604@N08/4479690855/in/set-72157623743704804/

2/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/28757604@N08/4480339858/in/set-72157623743704804/

and lastly wanting your thoughts on this toddler table (I realise it'll be a while yet) it's a blackboard table - http://www.flickr.com/photos/28757604@N08/4479691627/in/set-72157623743704804/

Thanks in advance :)
ETA - I'm in Australia :)

If you google 'chalkboard table' there are a few around, Amazon has them (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=chalkboard+table&x=0&y=0) and several Australian websites also but they can be expensive so I keep this in mind (http://lifehacker.com/5347529/turn-cheap-furniture-into-a-chalkboard-table) :)

Answer
I can tell you must live in the UK or somewhere like that because of your child toys. I really like the first on because, it could be really fun in the summer outside when he is older. The table is cute but, caulk would be a HUGE mess for kids. Plus they start eating it and a bunch of other stuff.

My 4 month old baby does not like being in the back of our tandem buggy?

I live in the UK and have a 17 month old toddler and 4 month old baby. Before my baby was born I bought a safety 1st tandem pushchair. Since birth my baby has always cried when in the back of the pushchair. He is fine in the rear facing single pushchair, but I need to use the tandem one to take both of them out in. Has anyone had this problem before, or has anyone any tips to make him like the pushchair?

Answer
Try to give him his favorite comfort things when he is in his spot in the pushcart - a toy, a soother or pacifer, whatever it takes. It is probably quite important that you get him used to it. Make sure the sun isn't in his eyes, and that he isn't cold or anything like that. Then the only way might be to put him in the cart when you are at home and give him a chance to get used to it while still at home. You might have to be willing to let him cry for a little while at first, while trying to find ways to make him happy.

Does it make sense to get a toddler bed for a toddler?

S.B

I know this may seem stupid but i have to ask. I want to get my son a car bed and i know it comes in a toddler version. does it make sense to get the toddler bed? (hes 3years old)

Answer
yes! because they are not built or designed to last for year! a toddler bed will be the best size for him, he will be more snug. just check the specifications for the bed, it will say what sort of weight the beds for.

- the Disney one on Amazon says its for age 2 +

This fun Cars toddler bed will make going to bed your childs favourite part of the day toddler bed. The toddler bed, made from solid MDF, is an ideal transition from a cot, helping your child in the next stage of development to bedtime routine. The Cars toddler bed is a traditional bed design that includes side panels to act as protection in stopping bedtime tumbles. The bed comes with a detachable shelf with a drink recess, a useful cubby hole for books and is a handy place to keep a night light. You will also have two printed storage drawers included to help keep toys tidy underneath the bed. Takes mattress size (L) 140cm x (W) 70cm. Mattress not included. Suitable for ages 2 years +.

I would suggest it for the 6 year old.

Or course I might change the comforter.
If any like Dora this would be great! http://www.householdinnovations.co.uk/shop/images/dora-toddler.bed.jpg

A child should also have something like a storage box for all their toys:

A child could also have a small TV or if they share a room they could make an agreement on that they go around in a circle picking shows

Also some dress-up costumes.

What can I get a 2 year old for Christmas?

~Due May 1

My son will be 2 in March, and I really don't have any good ideas for presents for Christmas. I was thinking a trike bike or legos. He has some legos already. Any ideas would be appreciated.

He already has his own ball pit, and that bouncing zeebra thing, a Mater truck wagon like thing.

Answer
My little boy will be two in february and being the avid shopper I am, I have his presents all ready, I have got him (bearing in mind I'm from the UK)
Little People play sets e.g Garage and Farm, plus accessories
a big Tonka truck,
dressing up outfits
Books
play doh
Mr potato head...thought it would be good for teaching parts of the body!!
Crayons
Colouring book
Puzzles
Thomas the Tank Engine activity table
Thomas the Tank Engine Bubble Thomas...he loves bubbles
Learn to Dress Noddy...cute toy which teaches how to do up zips, buttons etc,
Megabloks
A toddler Cd player which has CDs with nursery ryhmes on them...this will be a hit, he loves music...and my CD player grrr! ;)

In fact I think I have a bit too much for him!!
hope this helps
