Blocks, books, and a savings bond are good. Let's face it - most kids that age enjoy the box just as much as the toy. If he already has everything, get him something he'll appreciate when he's older along with a small toy.

Just check the age restrictions on it. I believe it is 3 and up so yes. They really don't go that fast, and an adult should always be around them watching just in case something happens.
