Me and my friend are babysitting for our awesome teacher on saturday. she has three chlildren aged 4,6,8. How do I make them Like me, and remember and want me to come back?

Answer
It's been a long time since I babysat, but I used to fill a tote bag with a few age-appropriate toys, games, art supplies, etc. (For example, I remember throwing in Happy Meal toys, Mad Libs for older kids, and coloring books.) The kids always loved it because of the novelty and would often run straight to the bag, even before their parents left. Use what you know about the children to tailor the bag to their interests. But don't focus so much on getting the kids to like you that you overlook what their parents need from you (like making sure they observe naptimes & bedtimes and don't gorge on junk food).

Any suggestions from creative mommies out there?

I am opening a daycare in my home in about 6-8 weeks and I've already got lots of toys for toddlers. I am already thinking about letting them paint/color but what else can I do with them? Any ideas? They are in the toddler age group. Thanks!!! I will have only about 3-4 tots.

Answer
I once did a summer job at a daycare centre with that age group, they're lovely to work with!

Storytime - Little kids LOVE books :)

Hamabeads - Little beads that you iron to make shapes. I think they're designed for an older agegroup but I did them when I was 3-4 :D

Animals - Kiddies love pets so try buying or hiring a small pet like a fish or hamster

Playdough (I don't know if you have that in the US, it's a bit like plasticine and easy to make) is always popular. Buy or make a couple of batches in different colours :)

Jigsaws - A few easy jigsaws are fun. Note that piece often go missing!

Dress-ups - Every little girl's dream!
