What is a good gift to get for a 1 year old girl for christmas?

Brittany H

I am going christmas shopping tomorrow, and I am very clueless what i should get for this little girl. It is so hard to shop for children under 3. Any suggestions?

Answer
One year olds can walk, so push along or pull along toys are great. Ball.

They are learning to use objects for a purpose and like to copy what people do, so...
toy telephone, very simple jigsaws, a small bag to put things in and take things out of, stacking toys, blocks, toddler musical instruments...
Anything with buttons to press, levers to flick

story books (can be nice to get a book to hold and chew but then also a nice one for the book shelf to keep until older),

paints/baby paint apron

Happy shopping x

Baby's first x-mas....used toys?

AUDREY H

It is my baby girl's first christmas (6 mos) and being my first child I quickly realized how EXPENSIVE and UNUSED so much of the stuff is. I shop often on craigslist for baby stuff, but would it be too bad to buy my baby toys from there for her x-mas gifts? Is that just really cheap? I just figure she will grow out of using most of the toys within months.... she will then need toys for toddlers ...etc..
Im not buying anyone elses gifts used b/c obviously they will get more use out of it...I guess that is why I feel guilty

Answer
Hi. I'm going to be honest with you, I wished I would have thought of this for my daughter's first Christmas...lol. There is nothing wrong with buying used toys for Christmas. My daughter was 8 months on her first Christmas...she is 2 1/2 now. On her first Christmas, I went a little overboard on the gift buying. I just thought I had to buy her all this stuff because it was her first Christmas. Well, she was more interested in the wrapping paper...lol. I have pictures took of her sitting on top of the wrapping paper with all the toys throwed to the side...she was having a good time playing in that paper. So, you are being very smart. Save that money for something else. Kids out grow toys and clothes so quickly, I learned my lesson.
