to tell ya

We are buying for girls, 2 and 4.

we want them to have really nice toys
Their parents can get them clothes if they want to. lol

Answer
You can check out the following website. It lists toys that can help your kids improve their skills (language, gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, social, etc).

How to celebrate christmas with toddlers?

I luva Chr

How do I make it fun for a 2 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. There my nieces and nephews. Include:
Morning-
Afternoon-
Evening-

Please help
No opening gifts till Christmas Evening When everyones there

Answer
It's tricky with kids that young. If you overstimulate them, they will get really cranky really quickly.

Morning- Have them help you make an easy breakfast (I suggest 'Monkey Bread'). Then open presents and eat.

Afternoon- They can play with their new toys while watching Christmas cartoons (I own the collection of classic Christmas cartoons).

Evening- Family dinner. Give them holiday themed coloring book and crayons to keep them busy and calm.

What is a good gift to get for a 1 year old girl for christmas?

Brittany H

I am going christmas shopping tomorrow, and I am very clueless what i should get for this little girl. It is so hard to shop for children under 3. Any suggestions?

Answer
One year olds can walk, so push along or pull along toys are great. Ball.

They are learning to use objects for a purpose and like to copy what people do, so...
toy telephone, very simple jigsaws, a small bag to put things in and take things out of, stacking toys, blocks, toddler musical instruments...
Anything with buttons to press, levers to flick

story books (can be nice to get a book to hold and chew but then also a nice one for the book shelf to keep until older),

paints/baby paint apron

Happy shopping x

Baby's first x-mas....used toys?

AUDREY H

It is my baby girl's first christmas (6 mos) and being my first child I quickly realized how EXPENSIVE and UNUSED so much of the stuff is. I shop often on craigslist for baby stuff, but would it be too bad to buy my baby toys from there for her x-mas gifts? Is that just really cheap? I just figure she will grow out of using most of the toys within months.... she will then need toys for toddlers ...etc..
Im not buying anyone elses gifts used b/c obviously they will get more use out of it...I guess that is why I feel guilty

Answer
Hi. I'm going to be honest with you, I wished I would have thought of this for my daughter's first Christmas...lol. There is nothing wrong with buying used toys for Christmas. My daughter was 8 months on her first Christmas...she is 2 1/2 now. On her first Christmas, I went a little overboard on the gift buying. I just thought I had to buy her all this stuff because it was her first Christmas. Well, she was more interested in the wrapping paper...lol. I have pictures took of her sitting on top of the wrapping paper with all the toys throwed to the side...she was having a good time playing in that paper. So, you are being very smart. Save that money for something else. Kids out grow toys and clothes so quickly, I learned my lesson.

toys for 4 month old girl? 10 points best answer?

Q. Hi all im trying to find toys for my daughters christmas presents she will be 4 months by christmas and ive looked on ebay and early learning centre and everything i find seems to be for toddlers. any suggestions on what i can buy or where i can look in the UK?
thanx in advance x

Answer
mothercare do amazing textured soft abc cubes, as well as soft rattles and great play gyms.
also noisy animal sound books are great as well as textured books - from amazon
toys r us had good stick down toys for weaning and hanging bar toys for car seats - my daughter loved all of these - i introduced her to harder rattles and toys t 5 months so these could bea good gift bought in advance for use after the new year. A door swing is also great fun for building strength in her legs and a baby walker all found at mothercare - shecan use these as long as she can hold her own head up and has good posture.

good luck

Toddler toys: Should gender matter?

Proud Momm

My daughter will be 2 this Christmas, so naturally my husband and I have started thinking about gifts for her and I have actually started buying things here and there when I catch good deals..I hate shopping at the last minute, hence why i'm talking about Christmas in September..lol. Last year, we bought my nephew the toy "Chuck the Talking Truck" and it was a big hit with him and my daughter loves playing with it. This year, they have a new "Chuck the Talking Truck" toy that is a newer version, so I automatically thought that it would be a great gift for this Christmas for her and I mentioned it to my mom's friend and she said "you are going to get a little girl a truck for Christmas?" She then said that my daughter needed "a doll" or some "girl toys" instead of a truck that is a "boy toy". I'm not really down with the whole "boy" toy or "girl" toy thing. To me, a toy is a toy and if your child enjoys it, it shouldn't matter. My daughter loves dolls, so i'm sure she will get one for Christmas, but can't she like truck too, especially one that is as neat as "Chuck" lol. She gets hysterical when she sees him in stores...I still plan on buying it for her, but what do you think about the whole issue? I also bought my daughter the "Stand and Play Raceway by Little People's" for a christmas gift too and she was like "are you going to get her any "girl toys" for christmas....what is it with this woman and girl and boy toys?? How do you feel?

The new robot BigFoot toy comes on tv all the time and she really likes it too and she loved playing with the display of it at Target...I mentioned this to her after I heard how appalled she was over the truck and the raceway toys, so I thought shed drop dead at the thought of this...lol.
Not just toddler toys, but toys for kids in general?
My in-laws are raising our nephew.(their grandson).have been since he was born and his dad or grandfather however you look at it had a cow because he was carrying around one of my daughters dolls. I don't know what the big deal is. Its role play..little boys have little brothers and sisters that we encourage to be "big brothers" to, they grow up to be fathers, day care providers, etc..what is the problem?
I agree with everything you all are saying. I would rather my child enjoy herself and have the option to choose what she plays with, rather than me put limits on what she plays with because of boy/girl toy sterotypes.
Alanda..I totally understand your reasoning and no, there is nothing wrong with your son watching Dora...its better than spongebob in my book anyday.

Answer
You know..I think that whatever she plays with is fine..who cares if she loves chuck the truck. I like Chuck the Truck, my son has one and its a fun toy for a little one this age. My neice and my son get together (they are both 2) and they sit her dolls in the back of all of his trucks and they play. Little ones don't know gender and who should play with what..they just see fun.

I know how you feel..my husband has a coronary everytime my son wants to play with something that may not be as masculine as he would like or when my son picks out some crazy color of shirt or shoes..but they are their own little person and they have their own style and likes and dislikes. He is still all boy and I don't worry about anything- he is a kid and I let him have his own way of doing things. I like to think that if I don't stifle the person he is now that he may grow up to be something great as well as tolerant and open minded. I'm trying to raise an outside of the box thinker.

And I totally agree- I would rather my son watch Dora than spongebob or one of the other crude cartoons out there right now.

My little girl who is almost 14 months on Christmas. My husband I have decided not to get her much for Christmas. I have actually one bought her one thing. Anything she needs we always buy her. We figured we would take advantage of her not knowing much about it. I was just Curious what you guys are doing for your little ones.

Answer
mine will be 14 months around xmas as well. We didn't buy lots, mainly it was stuff that they needed anyways but we just wrapped it up. We bought them some new shoes, and an outfit, and each a toy. I figured that we'd enjoy these less expensive xmas's now because when they are older we would like to buy them more stuff that they will be excited about.

My daughter will be 1 on november 16th, and christmas is right after. I also have friends with babies that will be turning a year old between now and then too and i just have no idea what to buy a 1 year old... And i would like detailed answers please. thank you =)

Answer
We were buying lots of things from Discovery Toys at that age. They have awesome infant and toddler toys. If you host a party, they are even more affordable. The Hammer a way, measure up cups, and tangiball were favorites at our house. (If you like those toys, you can often find more affordable similar toys in other brands at WalMart or Toys R Us.)

We also got our daughter a ride on toy like this one: http://www.littletikes.com/toys/push-ride-racer.aspx. To be honest, she had more fun playing with the box it came in. LOL

They are two girls aged 2 and 6 months.

Answer
I got my 2-year-old niece a Cabbage Patch Kid Newborn. She loves to play with dolls, and I felt this was a good buy at $15.

There's also a new line of Crayola products called Crayola Beginnings. They're specially-designed art supplies for children ages 18 months and up.

T.M.X. Cookie Monster Extreme

Also: books (they love anything Disney princess!), dress up clothes, a Build-a-Bear all dressed up for the holidays.

For the 6-month old, I love the toys from Lamaze. They are so cute, cuddly, and colorful.

Ashley S

it's the very last present i need to have done all of my christmas shopping this year. finally! haha
i thought about going the whole toys r us route, but i really didn't think that she (having extremely well-to-do parents) needs another barbie doll or fake makeup kit.
so are there any ideas out there on what a toddler girl (and her parents) might appreciate?

Answer
a nice teddy bear, i got one when i was 2 and i never forgot it. make sure its simple, small kids tend to undress everything and pull off bows etc.

Good Christmas Gifts for my soon to be born baby girl and my toddler?

Jordan

i don't know who heard my illness about my cancer mono and strep this may be the last/only family christmas so i want to make it the best my 11 month old baby Girl is so smart she is potty trained she runs and she can talk a little bit i don't know if she should get a potty chart to help because she is 11 months she still makes accidents or snow toys or a big girl bed more clothes i don't know and my new baby i have no idea!

Answer
You HAVE TO get the infant a "woobie" (a soft little blanky with a head of a frog, cat, or other animal. Both my babies are very attached to there's and are soothed by it.Most baby departments of stores sell them.
Infants grow fast, so soon he/she will enjoy musical stuffed animals or toys that light up.

Toddlers like educational toys where they can press buttons and pull levers, ect. They like noisy toys!
