What are the best shoes for a toddler who drags his toes on a riding toy?

Angela

I have twin 2½ year old boys who love scooting around the neighborhood on their riding toys. Problem is, all their shoes are getting holes in the toes from where the boys drag their feet. Any suggestions? They have long legs, so they'll probably outgrow the riding toys and move onto trikes soon, but what do I do in the meantime? Are there any shoes that are more durable? I've heard Keens, but are they really THAT much more durable and worth the extra money? Or should I just plan on going through several pairs of shoes this summer?

Answer
Well its up to you if you wanna spend the money. Keens are good but think of how much longer they will be on the riding toys vs. Shoe cost. Personally with my boys I had play shoes and regular shoes and play shoes I just put a few layers of duct tap on the at the toes. Also maybe like rubber boots over the shoes. Good luck

when can toddlers ride riding toys on their own?

By the way - i've decided that it's time for me to move to this section!!!!!!!!!! Yay! I have a perfected 10 month old walker who is Everywhere! I think that qualifies us :)

Answer
Usually around 1 1/2 I'd say. They need long enough legs to reach the floor for some of those riding toys. Some of the brands you can find at Target are really small, so you might get your child to try one of those. =) Welcome to the Toddler and Preschool section! =)
