Q. I have 4 neices/nephews from 3 to 10. Where's a good place to get ideas for gifts for Christmas? And is it better to buy online or fight the lines of Black Friday?

A Young boyâs idea of the best and worst toy of 2012


Ok, so, I have been itching to say something about Furby. I have a friend who owns the old furby, and it would be completely normal to own one. (As long as itâs not hot pink, lol) I, for some reason, was lured to it like a cobra. I knew I could get it, but thankfully, a sarcastic 20 year old snapped me out of it. His very dry remarks made furby look like he needed to go to a mental hospital.

I then read one from a mother, who gave furby a better review, but I was told of the no on/off button crisis. Great, now Iâm gonna be waking up in the middle of the night hearing furby go: âME HUNGRYâ or âOOGA OOK BLAH BLAH MOOSH MOOSHâ (An example of itâs annoying âFurbishâ.) I have a feeling my father, who, when working, is quite stressed, would take that little thing and throw it out our 2 story condo deck onto the concrete.

I then, though, heard it could be put to sleep, and permanently close its eyes in a mode very similar to an âoffâ mode. That upped my hopes a little.

That was then crushed by the fact âHow you treat your furby shapes itâs personalityâ Well thatâs juuuuuusst great. Now Iâm gonna have a demonic furby thatâs all like âWHY THE $%^& DID YOU CRAM ME IN THE TOY BOX FOR DAYS WITH YOUR ^%$# DIRTY GI JOE, PUNK!?!?!?!?!?!â So, that gives me an idea.

If a creepy doll like chucky were to come to life and murder his owner, furby is case file number 1.

After reading so many reviews to the point my eyes hurt, I still am oddly drawn to the prospect of having my own furby. Do the doctors drug me at birth? Maybe. Do the commercials have a certain announcer that hypnotizes kids? Possible. Is it just kid nature? Most likely.

Anyways, we will never know weather or not to get a furby!

Furby's are wonderful toys and yes you should get one, though they are on the pricey side they are excellent toys and are now new and improved. Yes buy a 2012 Furby.

Kid with a cap gun, should this be legal?

The other evening I went out in the apt complex I live in, and I heard shots. It really scared me, then I saw it was a small kid shooting a cap gun. I assume these guns are still legal. I am thinking that maybe if any guns need to be outlawed, maybe toy guns should be. What do you guys think. I'm saying that it really really scared me to have these shots fired.

Can I ask a judge in Indiana to release jurisdiction to North Carolina?

Current order:
Joint Custody when distance is a factor. Rotation of six months here in NC and six months in Indiana. We were suppose to go back to Court earlier this year. My ex said we will work it out we don't need to go to court. During my current six months that is suppose to end January 15th 2014 for his rotation both of my children had to go to school since my oldest is now kindergarten age. My ex agreed to let me enroll the kids in school for this year. He wants them for next year as in he wants them for school. I did not agree with him and did not verbally say I agree or say it in writing either. He had to give them to me its in the court order for my six months. I want to change the Indiana jurisdiction to North Carolina since the children are enrolled here in school. My reason for asking is because it would make the kids miss a whole lot of school just to go back and forth to Indiana for court.

More Background info on my ex:
He does not have a stable home moves a few times a year, refuses to give me child support (no current order for it, so I filed for it in NC), during his six months of custody I send things to our kids (clothes, toys, food) so does my mother and our extended family. I asked him to help provide our daughter a coat because in January when he got them back I sent her with a very nice coat. When they came back in July, asked him to bring their coats, and their clothes that we sent and toys. We received them with just the clothes on their backs, and their coats. My daughter's coat was in horrendous condition and I couldn't even give it to goodwill. He said he would buy her a new coat. I waited an entire month (because he only sees them on skype once a month when its convenient for him, I never ever tell him no when he wants to see them but it is not my place to remind him he has kids) and he tells me he didn't have the money. He lives with his dad and might pay a few bills sure. I understand you have to help if you live with someone. He isn't forced to pay child support currently. He can not have so many bills that he cant take twenty dollars and buy his youngin a coat. He has never had to ask me for anything for the kids, it was provided. He hasn't sent them one thing while they were here at any point in time. For four months (2012) during my first six months he didn't even call them one time. If I bring up child support I get screamed at. So when he decided to take a month to tell me he didnt have twenty dollars to buy his daughter a coat, I filed for child support.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

You would have to file a motion in Indiana to get it moved, and he's going to oppose that and since you are 50/50 there is no reason other than your convenience to move it. The kids don't miss school to go to court, they hardly ever have to go.

6 month rotation won't work for school age kids, so you'll need to go to court and modify the schedule and you should ask for child support at the same time. Get this done before 1st grade. You can probably expect he'll get summers and most holidays since you are asking for the whole school year.

You need to accept that he is a deadbeat. Don't expect the kids to come back with anything. Just set your expectations at zero and then you won't be disappointed. As the kids get older they'll want more expensive things like ipods and phones...don't allow them to take them to dad's house unless you are planning to replace them anyway.

Check with your school's policy.

I would bring a blanket (nothing new, old blankets from home can be comforting), a stuffed animal for comfort (again from home), and a small healthy snack. Also, a good sturdy container for drinks. Some good choices would be:

-Apple
-Banana
-Carrots and dip
-Apple juice
-Orange
-Grapes
-Blueberries
-Orange juice
-Milk or chocolate milk

Also, as a friendly reminder, if you must by new products, try buying organic or eco-friendly. Many hidden toxins are present in toys that you don't know about it. Here's a good site with cute blankets and the best stuffed animals :)

I really really want a rabbit and i am trying to convince my mom if i can get one. Shes not the fondest of any animal but i am. I love them. I just need some advice or tips to help me convince her.

I answer a lot of questions about 'How to convince my mom to let me get a rabbit' and I've done it three times so I'd say I have some good tips. Although I do have to say rabbits are a lot of work and require a lot of attention and do better in pairs. They are easier to care for that way because they don't require so much of your attention and they are happier. So since I've answered this question so many times I like to just copy and paste (MY OWN WRITING!) the same thing... Its just easier than typing it all out again, so here is a little segment I've written on convinceing your mom!

I have to say that no matter how much research you do before you get a rabbit, they are still very hard to care for and require a lot of attention and care. I have five cats and I think that rabbits are much harder to care for then my cats. I have a rabbit care channel on YouTube and I am going to post a link to my rabbit care videos part one and part two below. Please check them out. They have everything you need to know about rabbits. I will also suggest that you order Rabbits USA 2012 magazine. It has lots of information about rabbits that you can't get anywhere else. (I suppose you could find it on the internet but the money the magazine costs is worth it) I even would say that the magazine has better information that most rabbit informational care books have.

Now I have to say, these videos are from a while ago and are pretty bad quality but they still have all the right information.

As for convincing your mom I would say, tell her how much you want a rabbit (Or 2...) Whenever you and your mom are talking, spit out a fact about rabbits or rabbit care. Show her how much you know. Show her this post and how much you care. Bring her to the shelter just to look at the rabbits. Try and get her to like them. Make her hold him and pet them. Save up your money so you can help pay for everything (food, cage, bedding, toys, ect.)

I convinced my mom to let me get my first rabbit by keeping the house clean for a week, maybe do extra chores. But don't beg, that always makes parents mad.

Write a book about rabbit care or make a video or slide show. Use your talents to create something showing how much you care about rabbits. If you like to draw, make a comic strip ect.

All you can really do is keep telling her facts about rabbits. Talk to her about rabbits or if you have a specific rabbit in mind, keep telling your mom things and silly quirks or traits about that rabbit. Show her pictures of rabbits and tell her how sweet they are. Something that helped me was saying it would prepare me for having kids one day. But the thing I would suggest the most is... Make a booklet or something. Somewhere around ten pages but it should be very informative. Present it to her and say "I would like you to think about letting me get a pet rabbit. I have made this book to show you how much I have learned about rabbits and how much I care" Give her a few days to think about it and show her pictures of rabbits. Then ask her if you could just go look them in a shelter or at the breeder. Bring the bunnies a home made toy or something. Make your mom pet them and hold them. Go home without one no matter what and keep spitting out facts about rabbits. Soon enough she will either say no or yes. If she says no, I understand it is sad, but just except it and stop saying facts. I would maybe ask once more. "mom, I know you don't really want a rabbit, but I really love them. I would like to have one. I know you said no before, but I want you to think about it once more. If you really don't want one, then I respect your decision, but please think about it just once more." and if she says yes, then great! YaY!
