Jekyll and Hyde, I'm telling you. She was always a good kid - kind, gentle, repsonsible, helpful. Now? It's gotten ugly around here. She's stealing (junk food, money, toys from her brothers), she's lying about the stealing as well as less significant things, and she's started dressing up A LOT. I mean lipgloss, jewelry, 3-5 outfits a day, and spending an hour in the bathroom in the morning.

As if that isn't enough, I talk to her about these things and she glares at me. Seriously. Come to think of it, she has been a little more emotional lately too. She says she stays up too late reading, and she's feeling whiny these days.

What is going on with her?

No, there is nothing going on in her life that I can identify. no divorce. No bullies. No bad influence friends. School's out for the summer. She's usually home with me all day, and her best friend practically lives here. She's not lonely.

Anybody have a 9 year old daughter that's kinda freaking you out a little?
OMG. Seriously? You think this is her period coming on?

Well, . . . damn.

wow.

Answer
Sounds like PMS to me. My daughter was like that every month for about a year before she actually started having periods. And no 9 is not too young. My niece turned 9 in February and started having her period in May. I would have a set time for lights out to make sure she's getting enough sleep. I told my daughter that she can feel cranky without taking it out on everyone around her. Easier said than done, of course. But now she has a journal and I think she just writes down all her complaints in there. But I don't read it so I don't really know!! Good luck.

My 6 year old son wants to start skateboarding. What is a good beginner board for him?

deegeesque

He has been going to the local church which has a skate park with tons of ramps. He is not scared AT ALL, and has been riding the church's boards but he wants his own now. What kind should I get him? He is not a small kid, he looks to be that of a 9 year old so a smaller board probably would not suit him.
