Hey all you smartshoppers and gift-givers, list me all the toys that are appropriate for 4 year old boys. They have to be educational and nonviolent. Name the merchant also if you know. Christmas is coming up and I have to get my nephew gifts!!!!
thanks for your help.
Answer
Brand names like Leap Frog (educational), Legos, especially the themed versions, (creativity), and books.
Toys R Us or any chain Book Store will be able to help.
Building toys were my kids favorite. They may not be under the title of "Educational", but it taught them how to read maps/follow directions when buiding the objects, and it taught them to think independantly when they wanted to create something new.

Any good tips about how to keep the house clean with 3 kids UNDER 4?

I feel overwhelmed everyday ! My house is dirty , unorganized, full of toys&toys parts&books everywhere and I clean all day . I have a 4 yr old,3 yr old and 20 month old and everyday they make the house looking like after a hurricane. I believe play and reading to them is important so I use a part of my time for that, the rest for cooking (from scratch) , laundry, and cleaning. I take about 30 min for myself when I put them down for a nap but that's all .I never catch up with work and my house is never clean. Don't give me the link to flylady.com , it does not work for me as I have 3 under 4 . Some say to clean at night after I put them to bed, but at that time I am exhausted too. They are helping but they are still too young . The mess happens while I am working (from home about 30 min day ) or in the kitchen cooking or while I change the diaper , the other 2 make mess. I can't afford to pay a housekeeper and don't have any family to help. How do you do it moms with children under 5?
Answer
I have three kids as well and at one point had three under 4 years also.
I picked up in the main room several times a day and had them help as best I could. I also got rid of lots of their little toys with parts. We waited on puzzles for a while and waited on blocks for a while. I couldn't handle having them spread all over the house the whole time.
I feel your anxiety. I am living it too. I just do the best I can with one room at a time. I feel most of the time like I pick up the same things from the same places over and over and over again. I sweep the dining room and kitchen probably three times a day. It's crazy!!
The best advice I can give is to give yourself one room to keep clean and when you are stressed out, go there and enjoy the serenity. Another tip is to have an easy place to put all the toys in the room where they always tend to end up. If your kids don't want to play in their rooms with their toys because that is not where you are, then get a toy box or a large bin and keep it in the room where they play the most. That way when you want to quickly clean up you can put it all in there and not have to carry things from room to room. We have a toy box in our living room and we just throw everything in there a couple of times per day. I organize their toy box about two or three times per month.
Also, encourage them at an early age to begin picking up between activities. After one activity gets done, work on picking it up together before you get something else out.
I have found that this is my lot in life. My house looks like I am raising kids. I tell people that our family is in the business of raising good kids so sometimes other things get put aside.
Sounds like you are a great mommy!! I am sure you hear this often, but someday you will miss all the mess of the little ones and long for the extreme amount of attention they require now. All too soon they will be in school and then gone. I just sent my first one to Kindergarten this year. WOW!!! Can't believe it.
Good luck. Happy Thanksgiving!
