For those who were alive and saw the very first Star Wars (as in episode 4), were you excited when they started actively to bring back the rest of the triology. Like if you were in high school when you saw Episode 4, were you excited even in your 30's or 40's to go see Episode 3 when it came out in like 2006 or 2005?
Answer
Yeah George Lucas deserves to win the award for "ruining the best thing ever".
Star wars used to be the foundation of my life. I saw Star wars the New hope in 1977 when i was 12, and after it i was a self-proclaimed Star Wars Freak, I bought every magazine, t-shirt,action figure, comic, book, bubblegum card, calendar, bed sheet, towel, ball cap, toy, clock, piggyback, magnet, breakfast cereal, stationary, playing cards, toothbrush that was related to Star Wars.
Then the unspeakable happen in 1999 me and a group of us SW fans lined up for the premiere of the Phantom menace for six days, even the local paper did an article on us.
We all whooped and hollered as the Lucasfilms logo came on the screen glowing green and sparkling.
No words could describe my disappointment as i watch the thing i loved get destroyed for the next 95 minutes,by the man who created it.
It was evident George Lucas had lost the ability to write good quotable dialogue and a good story.
What did he give us? Horrible new Characters (trade federation, gungans, battle droids,Jar Jar) , stupid explainations (midicholarians) and worst of all a totally unlikable kid as Anakin, who cast this kid?
In one scene in pecticular , the choice and writing was so blantantly awful, Qui Gon Jin lifts Anakin into the Pod racer and Anakin says in a total surprised manner "WHOA".
The Kid drives an open air, rocket propelled chariot that travels at 1400 miles per hour and says "WHOA" at being lifted three feet off the ground?
I could list hundreds of things wrong with this film but i know you know them all.Atleast with the first triology it didn`t feel like Lucas was totally making up all this stuff as he went along.
I still don`t know why Lucas didn`t just let someone else write the new films, lots of great books have been published in the SW universe, he could have had a contest between some of these good writers and picked one.Anyone could have written a better episode one
When I heard there was a new Indiana Jones film coming out i said " I hope George Lucas isn't involved with it this time around.`
He was.
It sucked.
But atleast this time i wasn`t surprised.

Lego Kids?
alpine
Does anyone know if any research has been done on kids who grow up with Lego and who are somewhat addicted to these building blocks? I know a few kids who simply will "kill" if anyone should accidentally trip on their Lego, one of whom is 15 years old and still enjoys creating new things with it. He has a huge collection.
I wondered if there was a specific trait about these children who either grow up playing Lego because it is the only toy given to them, or is there is a specific trait among children who specifically love mostly Lego regardless of what is given to them? i.e. Is there a special trait about kids who love Lego, as opposed to Kids who could not care less?
Will appreciate a reasonable answer.
Answer
I think that the reason the kids get upset is that they see it more of an artwork they have built and don't like it destroyed where others just see them as building blocks.
My son (10YO) loves lego, especially Star Wars sets but I don't see him being fanatical about it.
