How do you deal wth a 3 yr old stubborness?

LADYLEO78

I spank him, i talk to him and even take away his favorite toy but it still don't work, how do i deal with it?

Children of this age normally try to acquire some autonomy and decide things for themselves. And you really do have to let him have his way as much as you can without letting him endanger himself or make life very incovenient for you. Or else, he is going to have psychological problems later on.

It is important for parents to be consistent both in modeling behavior and in addressing appropriate vs. inappropriate behavior in the child.

How do I make my iPhone ring without service?

Angela Ava

I have an original iPhone without service for my toddler to play with when my husband or I are using our iPhones. However, my kid keeps stashing it with his toys and losing it. We can never find it when we need it. Since it never leaves the house and is always on our wifi, is there some way that my husband or I could "call" the inactive phone with our phones or computer so that we can find it quickly when we need it? I'm not sure what you'd even search for to find an app like that. Thanks!

Answer
Check this out. I think you have to hack it first but it talks about a program called veency or vnc.....???

I googled "can i control my iphone from my computer"

http://joozly.com/blog/2010/08/how-to-control-your-iphoneitouch-over-your-wireless-on-pc-or-mac-hd-720p/

OR

Google "remote control locator". This is the first thing I found, but it's $30. I'm sure there's gotta be something cheaper.

http://www.keyringer.com/

Hope this helps ;)

PS. Why would you "need" it, if it's old and unused?

(also:

Appleâs Find my iPhone service which was available as part of the annual paid service â MobileMe has gone completely free with the release of iOS 4.2 for all iDevices including iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. While the other MobileMe services will still remain premium, this one feature is now available free for everyone.

apparently says it is only for iphone 4 but worth a shot maybe?)

toddler christmas craft idea?

Samantha

i was thinking of some cute ideas to do with my daughter when she came up to me with the toy catalogue and was showing me what she wants!
i came up with he idea of having her cut out the pictures of what she wants and sticking them on a big piece of paper creating her own "christmas wish list"
What do you think of this?
Also can you suggest any other ideas?

Answer
I think that's a great idea, but you should plan to do some other things, so she doesn't get the idea that Christmas is only about gifts for her. Also, make sure she knows that Santa doesn't always bring everything. You don't want her to be disappointed on Christmas morning because she thought she'd get everything she asked for.

You can make gifts for beloved friends and relatives with squares of unbleached muslin, a plain wooden embroidery hoop, and some fabric paint. Stretch the muslin into the hoop and paint her hand with the paint. Make a hand print. Let it dry, and you can use a fabric marker to write anything you want-like "Christmas 2010 Jennifer", or whatever. thread some narrow ribbon through the fastener on the hoop so it can be hung up on the wall or a tree. If you want to get fancy, you can sew lace on the edges of the muslin.

Remember shrinky dinks? You can buy the plastic at a craft store. Have your child help you trace a Christmas shape (cookie cutters are good for this) and then fill it in with the markers. You would cut it out and bake it. Make sure to punch a hole in it, so it can be hung.

You can cut out cardboard shapes that your child can paint. Paste a picture of your child in the middle and surround with little pine cones or other decorative shapes (buttons, scraps) that she can help you glue on. This can also be hung

Cut out the separate parts of the egg carton. Paint and pull a ribbon or pipe cleaner through to hang on a tree to look like a bell. (I still have some of these from when one of my children was little)

And even though she's little, you can have her help you mix when you're baking. She can also help decorate cookies.

Have a great time with your daughter on the holidays. Consult you library for more ideas.

Is It Safe To Leave My Toddlers Play Desk In Her Room At Night?

My daughter is nearly 2 years of age and i have recently moved her into her own room with a safety gate.
She has a desk in her room for which today she was climbing on and i have become a little worried of the idea she might use it to move to the door and climb over the safety gate.
My partner says i am over reacting; but seems this is highly possible, i am not sure that i am? Any advise please? Many thanks in advance.

Answer
teach her not to climb

Remember you can child proof your house but not the world. She needs to be taught what is safe & what isn't. So if you removed the desk from her room and other things she can't climb on then what is going to do the moment she sees thing she can climb on? CLIMB

My son was a climber. We made sure his dresser in his room was secure to the wall but that is it. When he would want to try to climb things we would firmly tell him no, tell him it wasn't safe & so on. If he did climb on something he wasn't suppose to like grandma's bar stools & he fell a bit we'd say "No climbing. You will get a boo boo." This would get the message across.

Make sure her room is safe with out let covers & making sure furniture like dressers, toy boxes & so on won't fall over on her. But that is it.

Show her how to sit in a chair for her desk. Show how it is used to color & draw. If you see her tying to climb on it again just tell her no. Showing her how to use the desk will also explain why isn't for climbing.

We also made a rule where you only climbed outside. Like it is ok to climb on the swing set or play land thing. It is ok to climb onto a see saw or jungle gym. But it is not ok to climb on things inside. Does that sense?

Teach her she isn't to climb over the gate. No touching the gate either. I'm curious at why you have a safety gate on her door?? Do you just not want her to come out of her room at naptime or bedtime? You can teach her taught. Right now all the gate is to her is road block. All she knows is she can't go past it. But does she know why? You can easily teach a child to say in their room when you want them to & yes even at 2 you can do that.

Feedback on my short essay about animal abuse?

VegasGirl

Hey! This is my second, revised copy. I included references, but I still need to add them for the quotes. Let me know if there is anything else I should change. I also added an additional paragraph. Let me know which paragraph is the weakest.

PROMT: In 500 words or less, please explain the necessity for moral and ethical behavior towards animals.

Remember... you are looking at the content. I still have to go over and phrase everything so it sounds better. (So not all my sentences begin in "it is...") and I need to fix my verbs so they are not all the same. No this is not for school. It is an essay for Reber Ranch.

âHumanity's true moral test, its fundamental testâ¦consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals.â As J.K. Rowling once wrote, âIf you want to know what a man's really like take a look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equalsâ. Animals are considered inferior to man, and therefore have no expectations to help us. Moral and ethical behavior towards animals is necessary because animals suffer from fear and pain, neglect causes harm which is abuse, and unnecessary medical testing often tortures animals beyond imagination, which is wrong because we should treat others as we would like to be treated.

âThe question is not, âCan they reason?â nor, âCan they talk?â but rather, âCan they suffer?â" Dr. Temple Grandin, an associate professor, insisted that the basic function of the nervous system that processes fear and pain is basically the same in humans and other mammals. They feel the same pain that we do. Thereâs a portion of the brain the reacts because of emotion. This reaction is seen in both people and animals. Some scientists use this as proof that animals have emotions too. Many animals such as elephants and bears often appear to be sad when a loved one has died. Our pets know when we are having a tough day, or when we are mad at them. This can cause the pet to feel confused and unloved. They sense when they are getting harsh treatment from their owner. Often, they may feel trapped and depressed. It is necessary to understand this for us to stop taking out rage on our pets. They may not be able to talk, and they surely arenât human, but they can definitely suffer, making it immoral of us to not lightly scold, but yell at and blame pets.

Extremely brutal cases of animal abuse are not as common as less severe abuse. You can still be harming you pets unintentionally. When neglect causes harm to the animal, it is abuse. Have you ever forgotten to give the cat water? Or leave the dog in the car on a hot day locked up while you run to the food market? Would you ever leave a toddler in the hot car alone? Or forget to give it the milk it needs? Most people who abuse animals donât do it intentionally, and this is what is truly scary. For example, in 2010, a woman left her dog in an overheated vehicle for about an hour and fifteen minutes. The dog died soon after its owner returned. Animals have fallen to the back of our minds. They are second thoughts, and treated as living toys. If we take them in as our own, then it is our responsibility to meet their needs.

Another controversial topic in our world today is animal testing. It is necessary to test on animals in order to meet the needs of humans and animals. However, testing should only take place for information that will result in the progress of medicine. According to Jonathan Balcolmbe, author of The Use of Animals in Higher Education, some tests like breaking the bones of animals to imitate the fracture of humansâ bones in car accidents, should not be done at all. These animals are not even sedated. The animals, natural creatures on this earth, have done nothing to deserve this pain. There are other ways to study this without breaking bones of animals. Testing for unnecessary information is also unacceptable. It is immoral to c

How old was your baby or toddler when he or she could sit still in a Movie Theater and watch the whole movie?

Q. I see that Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is coming out next March. My son will be turning 2 then, and I want to take him. Will he even be able to watch it? He's 15 months now, and we have never really watched TV, or movies... we usually just play with toys and other things... But a few times I have put a children's movie or sesame street on for him, he'd look at it briefly and then go back to playing. So is the cost of the Movie worth my time when he's 2? If not, when will a child at what age will they start to get interested in Disney movies?

Answer
I wouldn't take my 2 year old to that. (She's 2 in November.) Tim Burton is going to do justice to the book... and it's going to be CREEPY. Think huge screen, darkened room, creepy music and situations (the pig-baby for instance...)... no, I wouldn't.

My daughter is showing some interest in Disney movies. I could probably count on her sitting still for a movie for 30-40 minutes. We considered taking her to Up but then decided it would be too intense and still too long. Most of the kids I knew were able to sit through a movie at about 2-4, depending on the child (I have 15 nieces/nephews/greatnieces/greatnephews, and all are older than her except 1.) Disney or something similar is good, but be careful since a lot of them are going 3D now, and honestly... 3D requires them to wear those glasses, and I don't think you can count on that until they're 4-5.

I'd keep an eye on Thundercats (could be intense, depends on how they do it), Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are being rereleased in 3D (again, keep in mind the glasses), and Shrek Forever After. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs may be alright (the book was great for kids, but the movie looks like it's deviating quite a bit, still I don't think there will be many crowds which may make it easier to help quiet him.)

Beauty and the Beast is coming out next year in like January or so, but again 3D. How to Train Your Dragon looks promising. Furry Vengence, Marmaduke, Smurfs and Rapunzel, all are coming out 2010 and could work.

Since I don't remember any movie until I was about 4... I don't plan on taking my daughter until she's at least 3.

You have really nice boy names! Nothing to crazy, which I'm thankful for! They're all very handsome names. By the way, I love doing these little games. Making up my own little family, how they look and everything. I love it!

Joshua James: Born on November 21st, 2010. Joshua has blonde hair, and the brightest blue eyes you could imagine. He is a momma's boy and loves helping mom with daily chores. He is the sweetest little boy you'll ever meet. Josh is very outgoing, and sweet. He loves making people he doesn't know laugh. He likes cheering people up, and gives the best bear hugs. Josh loves playing hide and go seek, and playing in the pool. He likes coloring picture for his grandma. Josh likes to watch mickey mouse, and play with his toy dinosaurs. http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-19089082-curious-boy.php?st=8778522

Matthew Alexander: Born on April 23rd, 2009. An adorable 3 year old boy. He likes impressing his mommy and daddy and showing off. He has sandy blonde hair, and blue eyes. He likes getting dirty, playing outside, and helping daddy work on the car. He's more of a daddy's boy, but loves when his mom reads him a book at night and tucks him in. He likes playing soccer, and petting the family dog. He likes banging on pots and pans, when his mom allows him. He likes playing with his leap frog, and going fishing. http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-19738018-toddler.php?st=8778522

Michael Scott: Born on June 29th, 2007. You'll never meet a more outgoing, funny guy! He loves running around, and being crazy. He likes having tickle fights with his mommy. He loves going to school. He likes doing his own thing. He' more independent, but is more of a daddy's boy. He likes watching funny movies like Dr. Doolittle. One day, he's going to be the class clown. He likes taking care of his little brothers. He had brown hair, and blue eyes. http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-17363866-small-boy.php?st=f03c620

Connor William: Born on August 4th, 2002. He loves being the boss of three younger boys! He is a very responsible but bossy little boy. He likes being the first born, but sometimes he doesn't like doing his chores. He loves watching Spongebob and playing football with his daddy. He likes having water balloon fights with neighborhood friends. He likes having a good time.

There are other ways to study this without breaking bones of ani

i was thinking of some cute ideas to do with my daughter when she came up to me with the toy catalogue and was showing me what she wants!
i came up with he idea of having her cut out the pictures of what she wants and sticking them on a big piece of paper creating her own "christmas wish list"

What are problems caused by gangs?

Nick

Answer
1. (And the most important) CHILD ABUSE. By making the neighborhood where families live unsafe... By making damn sure that the children in the neighborhood live in fear 24/7 that a stray bullet might come through their window and kill their family... By making it so that a child has no sense of security for the entirety of their childhood, you end up with traumatized children that end up acting out. (Usually Violently for males, Sexually for females, but chicks can get violent as well.)

Children of Trauma end up seeing that environment as "Normal", which results in even those that get out of the negative environment being unable to cope with their feelings and treating their own children the way that they were raised. The generational transmission of trauma always leads to a slight escalation between this generation and the next, greater and greater trauma and chaos being accepted as "Normal".

2. Exploitation of women and children. Women abused as children, raised by mentally ill parent/s, addict parent/s, gang member parent/s, end up acting out sexually and can end up being taken advantage of by gangs either for use as mules, sex toys for the gang, or prostitutes raising money for the gangs in exchange for drugs. Children end up getting exploited by indoctrinating them from the womb into believing that they can't accomplish anything in their lives without the gang... The gang will be a better family than their actual family...

3. Violence due to inter-gang warfare, drug dealing, drug transporting, etc. In Chicago, it isn't unheard of to have the first weekend of Spring where the temperature gets over 65'F end up having double digit shootings. ALWAYS in black neighborhoods... ALWAYS involving gang members... ALWAYS ending up killing small kids that were out on the street, unsupervised, after 1:00am. http://archive.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/06/toddler-among-14-shot-overnight-throughout-city.html

You need to watch the History Channel Show "Gang Land". SPECIFICALLY the episodes about Chicago Gangs.
