I'm 13 and I really want to buy some toys to donate to 'Toys for Tots'. I know you can't do it yet but when you can I want to know where to bring them. My friend said you can bring them to the fire station? Are there any other places I can bring them? Thanks!

Answer
Ask any major motorcycle club by that i dont mean gangs.
I mean clubs such as the Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club (T.O.M.C.C.)
Or the Harley Owners Group ( H.O.G.)
They all do a yearly toy run for disadvantaged or hospitalised children Nationwide.
All toys will be collected and delivered by the bikers to disadvantaged children. normally on a bike dressed as father Christmas and in all weathers come Sun, Rain, Hale, or Snow. As you will see from the links I have given to you.
Bikers do this worldwide! note on the 5th link down theres a video of a toy run by H.O.G. Singapore of all places, happy viewing and thanks most of all for having a "heart for kids" too.
They are so important in this day and age, for they are the future! (We are yesterday so history.) Bikers also have a side most others do not see, They are often all tarred with a dirty brush.
But i dont know one single serious biker that will not give a toy to a needy child at christmas time! Myself included .... Abe Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club of Germany

.(The mother clubs I write of below are on the last two links given, these were the founder clubs since then many many chapters in many different country's and places have evolved worldwide)

Remember the 555 book?

LadyofLeis

Those were the days where 555 book is the credit card. I remember those days my life in the village, non tarred road, zinc house but very safe and happy environment. Nobody lock their house while you away on a day shopping trip. Never heard of air cond but only "hand fan", 5 cts a bowl of cendol and children have to make their own toys be it kite, wooden gun using cherries as bullets, catching spider..etc etc

This is nolstagia to me, WHAT ABOUT you? Tell me about your time ..how the place look like and how you as a kid pass your childhood time?
edit: ask for mo...yeah quite similar and i was a tomboy climbing guava tree, go tin mine and look for lotus seed to eat and wonder you know this game whereby you buy 10cts a piece of animation consists of 10 smaller pieces and you tear along the dotted line. Then you stack the cards high and use a slipper to hit it and if you can then you can keep all those you won!
edit :

The more I read all your answers here, the more I rindu the past..I still prefer those non computer era!
So 555 is really a multi purpose book.

Answer
I am in Singapore and in the old days, stayed in a kampong. So the first 555 book was used in school to note down words to learn by heart.

This was also used like a memo. Used to note down any reminders or thing I need to buy from shops aor market. Then got to memorise by heart, so no more use subsequently.

Those good old kampong days. Communication was along the street and over the fence. No telephone. Need to contact relative, pay them a visit. That was a more social culture than now. Nowadays, just a phone call and never get to see face to face. Present day, even meet relative on the street, also cannot recognise. That is how much damage the phones are doing to our life.

Things were more communal. Need to gather a group of friends, we go to every one's house to get them. And the group get larger along the way. Time was a luxury then. No need to hurry around.

Games? We play hide and seek, play catch, play rounders, play goli, play skipping. Everything outdoor and physical. Never know what was it like to be sick. Guess we were all much healthier back then. Compared to present day people who seem to visit doctor much more frequently.

Those good old laid back days are really life worth living. Wonder if this will ever come back.
