Bogan Mum
Im expecting my second in november. A girl. For some reason i can not find any of my sons toys! They must be somewhere but i cant find them. So i might just buy a few. So im just wondering what toys did you baby love and what ones do you think are the best?
Also with those activity mat things. Where you have the colourful mat and then the bars with hanging toys toys, are there any special things to look for that would make one better than another? My son never had one so i dont know what to look for in one and i know if i ask in the store they will talk me into the most expensive one, lol
Answer
I went through a lot of activity mats before I got a good one. I took back 3 of them because they held no interest and/or the music was so bad I couldn't stand it. Here is the one I kept http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2744546
It cost more than most but is worth the extra money because its so versatile. You can use it as a travel bed or nap mat and it will keep your infant contained until they are crawling. The important thing with the mat is to get a good musical light up toy on it. This one has a lady bug that is just mesmerizing to babies. We would attach it to the car, crib, stroller, and he never got sick of it.
Other than that my kid's favorite toys at 6 months were ones that had lights and music and were easy to activate and small rattles and other noisemakers. He also loved cloth books that crinkled and toys with mirrors.

What do i buy my 25 year old boyfriend for our 6 month anniversary. Relationship is quite serious and my budget is open to suggestions. I have no idea what is appropriate but i dont want to give him anything too big as we'll be on holiday when it passes.
Answer
I never head of 6-month anniversary present issues. But, if this relationship is really as serious as you say, instead of presents, why don't and he sit down together, talk about something the two of you can do together as a couple of more than 6 months?
One of my favorite times when my husband and I were dating was when we both prepared one of those old-fashioned picnics, complete with picnic basket, small hibachi, and we each made our own favorite dish to bring along, plus one toy or game we remember doing as a kid during a picnic (my husband brought a kite - me, the geek, I brought an old Trivial Pursuit game). It's a wonderful way to find out something about the other person that perhaps we weren't aware of. And it's something that you'll never be too old to do.
If you'll be on holiday, have the local restaurant/delicatessan (sp)/bed-and-breakfast help you prepare a basket.
Enjoy and congratulations!
