Is it normal for a 2 year old to only say 4 words clearly?

Q. So, my son turned 2 march 3rd 2013. & I've begun to get worried at his speech. Kids younger than him even talk more words and clearer. He only says yes,no,mama, dada. He never uses to words together like yes mama or such. He doesn't repeat words, and won't try to say words when I'm playing with him such as 'car' or 'toy'. Idk if he's just delayed or if there is a definate speech disorder? I'm a first time mother so could use any advice! Thanks.

A. By 2 he should be saying several words and making simple sentences at times like "Go bye bye", "Night night, mama", etc. It's okay if his pronunciation is not great at age 2. Many 2 year olds don't have all their sounds down perfectly.

Just because he has a speech delay now doesn't mean there is something seriously wrong with him, but you should get him tested by your state's early intervention program (it's usually low cost or free) so you know where he's at and what is recommended. In the meantime, just keep working on his speech with him (but don't let him know you're trying to get him to talk... you know how 2 yr olds can be!).

-Read to him often. Ask him to point at pictures that you name. Then point to pictures and ask him to name them for you. If he won't, then you say what they are.

-Make sounds with him. This can help his pronunciation. Make animal sounds, car sounds, train sounds, people sounds (mmmmm, uh-oh, etc).

-Ask him questions with 2 options and wait for a reply. If he doesn't, then you answer him verbally. Ex: "Do you want milk or juice?.... You're pointing to the milk. You must want milk. Let me get you some milk."

-Talk to him frequently. Especially about the things he's showing interest in. Ask him questions, make it a conversation, even if his answers are just head nods or pointing, get him used to having conversations. Look for ways to incorporate the words he does use into the conversations.

running a child care facility- do we give in and let the kids bring in gameboys, baseball and pokemon cards?
Q. I am a director at a child care and after school care for kids up to age 12. We are in a small town in missouri. We don't allow kids to bring in cell phones, i pods, baseball cards or any kind of trading cards. Under our policies we state ABSOLUTELY these items are not allowed and if a child brings them in they will be taken away and not returned until a parent comes to pick the item up. No exceptions. Many of our kids did not like that policy and even some of our parents had problems with that policy. But we said, sorry that's our policy, those items aren't allowed, that's it. We are in a small town and for a while we were the only after school care facility in our town, so therefore we really had no competition. In March 2011 another after school care facility opened down the street and for the first time since about '96 we had competition and didn't think they could compete with us.- we were wrong! Within a month after they opened we had 12 different parents pull their children out of our center and enroll in their new center. We were shocked. When I was at the soccer field I ran into one of the parents who took their child out of our center and she said, 'i don't understand why you don't allow kids to trade cards. Kids like to that stuff, their not allowed to do that at school, but at after school care I don't see why you don't allow that.' She then went on to tell this new place allows children to bring in trading cards. They allow kids to have more freedom and that was their reason for switching centers and she also said other parents switched for the same reason. It seems like such a small reason! When we checked the other centers' web site, sure enough right there it said kids are welcome to bring gameboys (as long as they turn the sound down), baseball cards, etc. As long as it's not causing a problem, your child is welcome to bring these items in. When summer 2011 the number of kids at our summer camp was WAY DOWN!!! When fall came and the kids went back to school the number of kids at our center went down even more. In January 2012 we had a little more than half the number of kids from the previous January. This was also reflected in the number of people calling to enquire for information on our center and the number of visitors which was very few. Years past we had visitors all the time. I suggested to some of the other employees maybe we should consider allowing kids to bring some of these items in. Their response to me: absolutely not! They claimed that this was temporary and some families would come back and the other center was growing too quickly. We would be fine they said and we couldn't give in on our policies and rules. In the summer of 2012 we almost didn't have a summer camp- we were now down to less than half the number of kids from January 2011. In November 2012 we came up with a grand idea- offer half price tution for the first 3 months. We thought this would hit it out of the park. It brought in 8 new students, which was great but way below what we were hoping. We were thinking it would bring in about 20-30 new kids. Nope, just 8. Here we are in Feb 2013. The other center is just crippling us. Do we allow kids to bring these items into our center and let them have more freedom and just try it out. If our numbers don't go up soon... I worry we will be in serious trouble! Every summer we would have college girls come to work for us. This summer we can only bring back 2 girls. We don't have the number of kids- we don't have the need for too many workers. I'm about out of my mind... what to do. I would love to hear from day care directors, day care workers, etc.

A. I'm not a day care provider though I have provided services to children through social services, managing a Federal program for the state of Illinois and I have an MBA. Your day care has a severe communication problem. You were able to ignore it because you didn't have competition but that is no longer the case. You did not hear what the kids and some parents were telling you prior to the competition and I'm not sure you explained (you din't in your post) to them the reason for your policy. You can't tell adults with the ability to choose, "That's our policy because we say so". If you din't explain the benefits that come from your policy it just seems that you are out of touch. And it is nice to get some feedback from employees but YOU are the director and your day care is failing. The next conversation you are going to have with them is an unpleasant one about their jobs. If people are so dissatisfied that they left, it is going to be very difficult to bring them back and you have a limited population to work with, you are in a small town. To survive you are going to have to let the kids have those items, if you and your staff believe so much in the alternatives you offer the present them in such a way the kids choose them over the gameboys, baseball and pokemon cards. And not only are you going to offer the kids the option of having their toys, you are going to have to offer something the other place isn;t to get your clients back.

I Heard Pixar Is Making a Toy Story 4?
Q. I heard it is coming out November 2013. Or maybe it is Incredibles 2? I know they are coming out with Monster's Inc. 2. Do you agree that Cars 2 bombed? I saw it with my kids and it was AWFUL. I hope the other installments of classic Pixar movies aren't as bad...Thoughts?Opinions? Please share your feedback.

A. By The Way, Monsters Inc. 2 is already titled Monsters University and already got a release date, June 21, 2013. Speaking to Vacanted Date To Pixar, It could be Toy Story 4 in 2013 because of Tom Hanks said about the terrible-reviewed movie, Larry Crowne, there will be a Toy Story 4. it might be cross a $4 billion mark for Pixar if Brave and Monsters University went up to $280M in the final gross. Cars 2, i agreely bombed down for the worstest gross Pixar movie since A Bug's Life in 1998 all because of Jeff Gordon???? man, Jeff Gordon won 84 races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and 4 Championships, don't bombed down that movie with Jeff Gordon in it!!!! I Think Pixar is going to get a Razzie for the first time for the Worst Animated Movie.

Why are American people priorities out of whack and not wanting to help this country?

Q. People are complaining about health care reform, People have lots of money and not wanting to help those that actually need it. We are in a bad time right now and people wants game systems, ipods, new computers, laptops and other new gadgets and a new home and a new care every two years. People we have some bad times on our hands all you want to do is complain about this health reform. I don't care about the taxes now and generations a few years from now. I want to help the cause and problem now so we don't have a problem in the future.

A. Many do, but have been lied to, both about the need for reform and the nature of what Obama has planned to make America better.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4,5].
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [6].
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [7].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

what are the best christmas gifts this year for 2012?
Q. i recently read an article in the news about the hottest gifts for Christmas this year but could not find it again anyone have a good list of the best gifts this year I would like to start shopping early this year.

A. I read these every year in the paper and online as well, usually right before the Holidays these top gift list start popping up all over as retailers get ready for the holiday buying rush:

Usually the top items are always electronics and toys along with fashion items for the ladies as they try and target men, women, and children family, relatives, and fiends all in one list...

Amazon has a really cool landing page that has all of the top items for Xmas this year at: http://amzn.to/WnNICq

I like this one because it has a really neat category grid laid out nicely so you can pick "For Dad" and "For Mom" etc.. and they also have all of the latest and greatest gadgets and electronics for the kids and relatives too..

My Favorite list is the Gifts for Gadgets Fans as they have all of the cool electronics out today, the latest models and best pricing, check it out: http://amzn.to/YG8r1T

Also the NY Times and USA Today as well as your local paper will also start to have Gift List and specials and booklets inserted into them come black Friday and into the Holidays. If these dont help you can also google the terms and you will get thousands of websites offering their best of the best gifts for this year. Good Luck and Happy Shopping

Will 2012 Be The Age Of Enlightenment?
Q. If the world doesn't end then I atleast want some super powers.
supposedly we might all become telepathic or something.
And supposedly it's suppose to be the end of man lead religion.
And be a return to priestess religions.
But I have a hard time seeing man lead religions going anywhere soon.

A. There is a total eclipse of the sun on 14th of11th-2012 ...?
The religions will crumble sooner when the women do not stand up beside the men yet until that time... my dear young Lady ... we take it brick by brick ...?
I'm already telepathic honey and I'm telling you that we are living in the future now ... as in ... Space age? = gadgets and space stations and did a rocket just blast off to mars the other day or did I just image that in my own head?
I was a kid when man walked on that moon and when I see people in public, sitting at a buss stop and pressing buttons on a device in there hand ... I think of star trek and "Beam me up Doctor Spock" ... so this is the computer age and if "video killed the radio star" ... then what has the microchip done to television?
I dunno about you but I still find it fascinating that I can communicate instantly with people from all over this planet ... it is like flying around in heaven to me!!!
Why have a hard time seeing? = laugh at the visions?
No religion = no ritual = no hell = no problem = o = peace of mind?

Do you think parenting has become commercialized or is it progression?
Q. With parents running out buy the latest books, gimmicks and gadgets? Do babies really need to read, talk, and have warm behinds? Opinions?

A. I think some progression is good. Some. Learning how to make better, more nutrient rich breast milk substitutes is great. Learning how to better understand the development and mindset of different ages and stages is great.

BUT I do believe parenting has become greatly commercialized. Every "expert" with a parenting "theory" and opinion is selling themselves. Everyone insists their parenting methods are best way out there. And oddly, all of them say "no two kids are the same", but they claim their methods work for all kids. How ironic is that?

I think people need to parent their kids as they see fit. Too much progression leads to over analyzing everything and it gives the potential for allowing kids too much freedom. Progression to tell kids "having sex as teens is ok as long as you use protection" I believe is a foolish progression that tells *children* they are on the same level and maturity as adults. That's simply not true.

Progression that gives kids all the latest and greatest gadgets all in the name of "fun" I think could be done with out.

But at the same time, changing the saying "children should be seen and not heard" is a progression I can agree with.

On the subject of expensive gadgets for young children?
Q. It still makes me laugh when I go to a restaurant and instead of coloring while waiting for the meal, I see a 6 year old on an ipad or something fancy. I know it's nothing out of the ordinary, it's just amusing how technology changes everything and how good with it some small children are.

If you have young kids and a smart phone, do you allow them to play with your phone while you wait at places? My son just prefers to color.

A. My autistic brothers all have iPad's and iPhones (the brother who attends public school actually had the school provide the iPad if you can believe it) but they are not allowed to play with them while waiting at a restaurant. One of my typical brothers keeps trys sneaking it into restaurants and into school but he gets busted each time and loses it for a while. You would think he would learn.

Which of these qualities is most important for a paranormal investigator?

Q. 1. Gullibility or ability to inspire gullibility in others.
2. Electronic gadgets.
3. A van ("if it weren't for you meddling kids..!")
4. Mojo bag with silver & chicken feet at least.
5. A ouija board.

A. Even though its not a quality, the most important would be the electronics gadgets. They would be the most useful in catching spirits or disproving them.

If some students are smarter than others then why are all students treated the same?
Q. I understand why public schools treat all kids alike. I mean you don't want to give favors to one student and deny favors to another one. That is also wrong but when a student works hard and has actually achieved more than his or her class mates. Doesn't that student deserve to learn something else rather than the same old repetitive stuff that he himself or herself learned on their own?

Lets face it, some students really don't want to be there and they prevent other students from learning. That is why I believe that the private sector can do a far better job than the public school system. In the private sector the parents are paying for that child's education so they expect them to learn something. If that child isn't learning much then the parent can try another school. No two kids are exactly alike so teaching our kids exactly the same thing isn't going to work in every single situation.

Some kids do well in a public school system and others do better when they are home schooled. Wouldn't it be great if we had businesses out there trying to find ways to educate our children and make a profit for themselves at the same time?

Think about it. The pharmaceutical, internet and technical fields are an example of what the free market can accomplish. The students are actually breaking public school regulations by playing with their little electronic gadgets rather than studying in class. That is because the free market has produced products that are far superior to anything that the public school system could ever come up with on their own. Imagine if we allowed the free market to teach our kids. Wouldn't the free market find a way to keep the students interested?

I mean if they don't or can't do it then they won't remain in business for long.

A. I agree 100%, if the school system would go private, results would highly improve. Private or home schooling are the best options for education, the numbers don't lie.

I went to public school and my experience was teachers did not treat students the same. Many teachers would have over crowded classrooms. They would spend half of the time trying to control noisy and disorderly students. The other half repeating the same thing, to students who had a hard time understanding the subject.

I don't blame the teachers, they have overcrowded classrooms and few resources.
And I don't blame the students. Some come exhausted to school, dazed, hungry and even high from the crazy home life they have.

I was the lucky few to take proactive steps to educate myself at home. And would go to high school to socialize with students and help out the teachers by tutoring problem students.

What do you think about the practice of sending brag letters in Christmas cards?
Q. They tell about how rosy their life has been and how great the past year has been to them. For example, their son is class president, and their daughter is on the honour roll. Some of them brag about how many grandchildren they have and/or how fast they are collecting them. They talk about their extensive travels or what wonderful jobs their spouses or kids have. Nowdays, they brag about their electronic gadgets and their computers. The sun shines perpetually on these people. You would really think they knew Santa Claus better than anyone else, and they make other people feel sick and depressed. They even seem to imply that they are getting all these things because they have been good.

Is this practice in keeping with the spirit of Christmas?

A. Hmm... not keeping with the spirit at all. We've got a family friend who sent those letters out every year until last year and instead she sent a family newsletter. For crying out loud, a newsletter. It had little blurbs for her children... 'Katie's Corner' and even one for the dog. She went on and on about how her son was a black belt and on the Honor roll and how her daughter was the best reader in her class and all this other bull crap that nobody really wants to hear on Christmas. I agree... they just want you think think they're something special. For them, Christmas is the time of year to let everyone know how great life is, even if it's only to avoid thinking about the downpoints. I don't buy a word of it though. It's great to share love and be friendly and even if people don't mean to brag, they do... and they shove the rest of us down. Whoever said, on this page, that you're 'not whorthy' to read those letters proablby has never recived such a Christmas card. I wish we could all brag and be happy for one another. It'd be great if Christmas worked that way, but it doesn't in our heads because the world bassically sucks.

There's an answer in here somewhere. Happy Holidays.

Is it normal to feel this way? Or do I need professional help?

Q. Hello, I'm a 14 year old girl and I would like if someone could help me. I feel so empty like there is nothing inside of me. I've been to the psychiatrist and on the first visit she said that she believes I have major depression and psychosis. Well at the time I didn't believe her because I was no longer depressed. The reason I went to the psychiatrist is because I see and hear things that other people do not see. My mom says that they are spirits, ghost. Well the doctor wanted to do some test on me and wanted me set on some anti-depressants. Well my mother didn't want that and accused the doctor of just wanting our money. (My mom also has depression). At the moment I'm on st.John's wort. They help with my concentration and with my mood swings. When I don't take my pill the tiniest of things would set me off. Like I have this friend.....Well let's call her "Nancy". I've been Nancy's friend for about two years. When I met Nancy I was hearing the voices and ect. Well at the time I wouldn't have these mood swings and thoughts of homicide, just suicide. At that time I self harmed but we're not talking about that. Nancy had this horrible friend who was two faced. They talked behind my back and one day my friend "Emily" told everyone that I brought a knife to school because I was going to stab them, I was at band at the moment and didn't realize that she had told everyone that. When I returned and went to p.e EVERYONE (Take note the school has about 50 kids and most are pre-kay) avoided me and when I walked towards them wondering why they were avoiding me they laughed and ran away screaming. I was really depressed during those times. Well eventually I managed to get through all that, I learned to not care. Alright back to 2013. Nancy is still my friend and she was no longer friends with two face (The girl from before not Dent.) Well I can tolerate Nancy most of the time but sometimes she just ticks me off. One day I was playing around with her and I jokingly said "Get out the way!" (She was in my spot during sign language) She KNEW I was joking, because I laughed after wards. She answered with attitude and rolled her eyes. My mood changing from cheerful to angry in a matter of seconds. I even took my pill that day! Nancy has family problems and she tells me them. She knows that I love to see others in pain. Some days Nancy avoids me and I know why. She even told me. "I'm not in the mood to be bullied." I can't help it, I can't help but be so heartless. I lack empathy. I lie to get my way and I put on a act to earn others trust. Some kids and teachers at school call me a dictator.(I'm class president.) But one second I feel on top of the world, calling everyone my toys. And then I feel sad and empty. My heart aches, my stomach twist and I feel as if everyone hates me. They do sometimes, they want me dead. I know it. Most of the time I'm very agitated. My mother won't listen to me. She says I'm just special and have the gift of seeing dead people. I'm also very paranoid. One time I refused to eat my dinner because I believed that my mother had poisoned it. I'm tired of feeling so heartless. I'm SICK of these mood swings, they throw my whole day off. I lay in bed at night refusing to sleep because I can't stop thinking and when I do manage to sleep I have nightmares. Last night I was sick of it all. I was on the verge of tears, my heart was aching. I felt so empty and hollow. But I couldn't cry, I couldn't get myself to cry. What I want help with is. Is it normal for a girl my age to feel this way? Or am I some type of sociopath? Was the doctor correct when she diagnosed me?
I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.

A. if a psychiatrist told you that you were depressed and psychotic--well then....obviously you have issues that need to be dealth with--st john's wort helps but I think you need real pres meds--go get help---talk to your school psyc./counselor etc.. see what your options are out there....

What Should I Get For Christmas 2011?

Q. My family members are asking me what I want for Christmas but I can't think of anything! I am a teenaged girl and this is what I already have (and i am not trying to brag or anything because i worked hard and bought most of this stuff for myself)
Things i have:
a laptop
an itouch
an iphone
a kindle
a portable dvd player

I think that is all that is majorly noteable.
I want an iPad 2 but i don't know if I really need it and it is too expensive to ask for and I rather have a lot of less expensive things than one $600 thing.

My favorite stores are Hollister and Abercrombie&Fitch. I also love VS Pink and Bath and Body Works and stuff. Besides asking for gift cards and clothes and stuff, I also need a more expensive big gift as my main gift (maybe an electronic you can think of that i dont have that isnt too expensive?) I was also thinking maybe like more hair straighteners or curlers or something? Some cool hair tool gadget?

I guess if this would help, a little about me: I am sporty and athletic but am girly in the sense that I love makeup and hair tools and stuff. I dont really like video games and i like listening to music.

Please answer if many gift ideas because to ask for various things from various people so there can be a lot of items on my list. I was also thinking of asking for some kind of awesome electronic device that is really cool that isn't as well known like not an ipad or ipod some cool unique electronic device that does cool stuff that i may not have heard of?

Thank you for your help and answers :)
I am grateful for everything I have and I spend a lot of time doing community service and helping others so please don't lecture me on that. Also, I hate Justin Beiber, and celebrities like that and also disney channel stuff and i dont like gossip magazines and all that. The Music I listen to is basically DRAKE AND EMINEM and thats pretty much it. I think i will put "Take Care" on my list.
I also already have a camera btw

A. Just be thankful to be alive and around the people you love everyday maybe this year you should ask for starving kids to be fed or people who arent as fortunate as you to have all they want pray for them

iPhone 4S as a birthday gift for a 13 year old ?
Q. Hey guys, should I ask my parents for an iPhone 4s for my birthday ?
I have an iPod Classic 8GB , MacBook Pro 2011 , Nikon D90 and a Samsung Galaxy Ace, and all of these are still in good condition ! I didn't break them because I really care a lot about my gadgets so I try my best to take GOOD CARE of them !

I will also promise my parents , if I get the iPhone 4, I will improve my grades ! If I don't improve it, then take the phone back. And also, I will participate in more sports, now, I play Badminton, Soccer and Basketball, but I'm more into Badminton. And another thing is that , I will take part in lots of activities ! Such as rap competitions, dancing and stuff like that....

My parents both have an iPhone 4S and my sister has an iPhone 4. I was thinking maybe, I can give my sister my laptop to share with her, because her laptop got stolen last year .
But yeah, the main thing is , should I ask my parents for it ? My sister is 17 years old and my 22 year old cousin say I'm mature and already responsible. So should I ?

And I don't want to hear " Your a spoiled kid " and stuff like that because I'm not.

THANK YOU FOR THE INCOMING ANSWERS !

A. It sounds like you're a pretty good kid, but as a parent, I would not buy you one, simply for the fact that kids lose things, and that phone isn't a cheap investment. Sorry.

What kind of car should I get?
Q. So, my parents are getting me a car. With that being said, I do work and I will be paying the car payments including for gas and car mechanical failures. I am 16 and this is NOT my first car. Yes, my parents don't mind spending money, etc. on me obviously and I was just wondering from your opinion - what kind of car I should get or what do you think is better.

*NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT HOW YOU SAY RICH KID AND PARENTS WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR KID, ETC. THAT'S VERY RUDE!* (Yes, I said it in all caps haha!)

I was looking at these cars:
2012 Chevy Volt
2012 Hyundai Tucson
2012 Hyundai Sonata
2012 Cadillac SRX
2012 BMW X6M
2012 Porsche Cayenne
2012 Porsche Panamera
2011 BMW M3
2012 Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG
2012 Lexus IS F

MY OPINION:
I have close enough in money to afford a Porsche Panamera & Porsche Cayenne because I have been modeling and acting and I have been saving up with that money since I was 10 when I started. I still do modeling and acting but, little of it now since booking have been slow so I got myself a job at a local restaurant and at a lawyers office. I am home schooled so I have enough time to work, etc.

HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN:
For value and performance overall, especially for a car that I would like to keep for years from now, what car should I get?

I KNOW: You are going to say also, what is she doing driving a high performance, luxury or everyday car if she doesn't even know how to drive and she is just 16. In my state, the driving age is 14. I have never been involved in a car accident, never caused one and have never gotten any points taken off my license. I know how distracting it is to have friends in the car as my friend has died from that fatal accident but, I honestly don't drive with friends in the car. I only drive with family members in the car or on my own. No music. Just listening to that good old sound of car horns and the environment. (:

From your point of view, like I said, which is better? Please no negativity. Just answers. I know someone is going to put something negative on this post but, I did ask for an answer. I did not however ask for a mean one.

I hope you reply with what you think! Thanks! (:

*p.s. I know that I will have to go to driving school if I wanted to drive a high performance vehicle to know how to control the car, etc.* #JustSaying. (:
@mechanic_girl_C: Thanks for responding! (: I'll keep the Hyundai's in mind. ^_^
@iwastypingthat: Yes. No music seriously. (: Thanks for responding also! ^_^ I'll keep what you mentioned in mind about resale and safety with those cars.
@Raff: Thanks for responding! (: Ouch! That's off of my list for good. Haha yes, I do actually. ^_^
@apeweek: I've read through the information given on the volt and yes, it's reliable & very safe, etc. but I have come to the conclusion to just leave the volt off of my list. I did go down to test drive the Volt today and it's not really for me. It's safe, has the features but it also balls down to how much room is in the vehicle. It's great for someone who wants something small but I like to have a more space. (:
@GM Customer Svc: Thanks for the information on the SRX. (:

A. You should get a Chevy Volt. I'm sure this will make many readers scream, but hear me out. There is independent support for this position.
*
Consumers Reports has the Volt as one of their "recommended" cars. In fact the Volt is the ONLY recommended American car in the small car category. See link:
*
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/types/new-models-by-category.htm
*
The Volt in fact came in first place - beating every other car Consumer Reports tracks - in their Buyer Satisfaction survey. See link:
*
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-57334967-48/chevy-volt-scores-highest-satisfaction-rating-in-consumer-reports-survey/7
*
It also aced their first year reliability rankings. Note that Consumer Reports did not initially like the Volt - they trashed it in an article after the car first came out. But after testing it for a few months, they radically changed their opinion. This is the key - test drive one and see for yourself.
*
Volt got top 5-star scores in safety testing from both NHTSA and the Insurance Institute - see link (yes, recent "Volt fire" stories are sheer nonsense):

And
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2011/04/chevy-voly-nissan-leaf-crash-test-iihs-top-safety-pick/1
*
The Volt's little secret is that this is a wickedly fun-to-drive car, great acceleration, full of technological gadgets, and it attracts a lot of attention. Driving past gas stations is fun, too.
*
Plus - it's not even as expensive as most people assume. Depending on your driving pattern - and taking into account that electricity is much cheaper than gasoline - the total cost of ownership could even be cheaper than a comparable car. Below is a spreadsheet where you can input your own driving needs and see what kind of car is cheapest to drive:
*
http://www.squidoo.com/a-free-calculator-for-economy-hybrid-and-electric-cars
*
Yes, I own one. It's the best car I have ever owned. If you go with a Volt, be prepared for arguments with everybody. Do your research so you can answer your critics. This is a great car, the car of the future.

Is this true that WWE is bringing back the Attitude Era or an era like Attitude Era in 2013?

Q. I heard something like THE REVOLUTION IS COMING and LIVE THE REVOLUTION.

A. No. The only way WWE could ever bring back Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression is by dropping the Disney writers and bringing back more legends having less jobbers. With the amount of young kids watching the program today, WWE wont end PG. They'll just toy with us and add a small change once in a blue moon.
But if Lord Tensai can't even have "Lord" in front of his name without WWE changing it because of 1 crazy Christian then I highly doubt WWE will go back to being what it use to be, entertaining.

Good luck! Here are 2 webpages I would recommend:

I need help creating a Subvertisment Idea?

Q. Please help!!! I need an idea for a project in my digital toolbox class. I need to use photoshop to merge together at least 3 images to provoke an idea or message. Like choosing an issue in society and using a brand to extort it.

For example:

An image of an overweight kid standing in front of McDonalds to show that McDonalds will make you fat and causes obesity in children.

An image of a hand tattooing a baby a picture of a Disney character to provoke the message that Disney is forced into our childhood minds from birth.

A slogan would be helpful too since we have to make one...

Thank you!!!

A. How about some product related to getting/staying slim - Diet Coke, 'Lite' .... whatever is common in your country eg. http://www.heruni.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/diet-foods.jpg stocked to the hilt on the kitchen shelves, but the family is obese & lazy ?

Watching supermodels walk the ramp & trying to emulate their figure, etc. by becoming anorexic ? You could show magazines with Size 0 model photos, posters in the room, etc. while the girl tries to emulate in front of a mirror.

Something similar with Health drinks, sugar-free foods, etc....

New gadgets from Apple that kids get hooked on or enticed by ? Almost a status symbol too, with people lining up for hours/days in front of stores before a new launch...

Movie franchises & their related products - whether toys, masks, clothes, or whatever - kids dreaming of Being that character & trying dangerous stunts or picking up wrong attitudes/habits ?

Hope these spark off ideas...

What, in your opinion, is the most stupid way the government spends our money?
Q.

A. The federal government spent billions of dollars in 2011 on some unusual projects.
Here are some that seem utterly outrageous to me...

1. $764,825 for a study on how college students use cell phones and social media

The National Science Foundation awarded the University of Notre Dame this grant to study the mobile and social media habits of college freshmen. I can tell you exactly how college freshmen use mobile phones and social media: for 3 a.m. texts and phone calls to that guy in American History. I could have saved the government a lot of money.

2. $136,555 for teachers to retrace Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales in England
Ads by Google

This grant, awarded to teachers from Kent State and Eastern Illinois Universities, allowed Middle English lit fanatics to take the trip outlined in Canterbury Tales. I'm betting £10 that the tour guides just make up half of the landmarks.

3. $55,660 on butter packaging

Kriemhild Dairy Farms received this chunk of change to package their grass-fed cow butter. The funding isn’t the only thing that’s too big: The butter itself is 85 percent fat.

4. $606,000 for a study about online dating

Columbia University researchers received over a half-million dollars to study online dating. Maybe the Ivy League nerds who conducted this study should put down the lab coats and go to a bar — or at least the library.

5. $484,000 for a pizza restaurant

Arlington, Texas has one more beer and pizza joint, thanks to this grant to a private developer. The groovy Mellow Mushroom, a national chain, is known for its hippie theme.

6. $48,700 towards the Second Annual Hawaii Chocolate Festival

These funds were awarded to promote Hawaii’s chocolate industry. The Aloha State is already full of sandy beaches, clear blue water, and sun. Why do they get all the good stuff... (That’s the mayor of Hershey, Pennsylvania on Line 1.)

7. $147,138 to build a magic museum

Maybe the wizards at the American Museum of Magic in Marshall, Mich., can make the federal deficit disappear. The grant was awarded to promote the “history of magic entertainment.”

8. $96,000 on iPads for kindergarteners

One school district in Maine was awarded this grant to buy every kindergarten student the latest Apple gadget. These kids can’t add yet, but thanks to Uncle Sam they’ll never need to.

9. $175,587 for a study on the link between cocaine and the mating habits of quail

The funding for this super-important scientific study is down from its 2010 level of $181,406. But I think the amount is ridiculous for research that proves what the film “Blow” already did: that cocaine is linked to high-risk sexual activity.

Parents: What do you think was the best invention between 2000 and 2011?
Q. Just wondering :)

A. I would have to say jump drives. Those little gadgets are genious!

OR, smart boards at public schools. If your kids' school has one and you've actually seen or used it, then you'd know how useful of a learning tool they really can be. They're just awesome:)

What was the best invention for kids that made one crazy inventor and investor a millionare?

Q. Remember those animal rubber bands? The guy probably is at home in retirement on his pool, exercising, young, and living the dream life selling those animal rubber bands. I'm doing a project for Economics about the best product made for children because kids are particulary suckers somewhere at age 3-5 years old.

That woman who made a book for kids who are in stress I know its kinda funny but she made millions of dollars probably at home same as that animal rubber band guy. LOL

A. It has to be LEGO. A small Danish toy company with only seven or eight employees bought a plastic injection moulding machine and invented a 'self binding brick'. In less than twenty years, by the 1960s, the company was worth millions. No other invention: doll, clay, game, construction set or gadget, comes close to it.

Kids love it: they buy a few bricks and play for weeks on end. They start at 4 or 5 years old, and are still playing and collecting at 12.

There are compatible bricks, (such as Canadian Mega Bloks) but parents prefer the original brand, so it still sells like hot cakes. LEGO fans always seem to need the latest set.

what are the best christmas gifts this year for 2012?

Q. i recently read an article in the news about the hottest gifts for Christmas this year but could not find it again anyone have a good list of the best gifts this year I would like to start shopping early this year.

No religion = no ritual = no hell = no problem = o = peace of mind?

what is the best kindle available out right now?
Q. i know that amazon carries several models but what is the best one out right now for a good gift this christmas

A. Today, Nov 2012 there are two families of Kindles the Kindle eReaders and the Kindle Fires.
I am assuming that you havent read up on all of the different models out and would like a quick summary as to the best one out right now for a gift and without having to read through several reviews and web pages I will try and give you a brief answer as to the best Kindle out for your gift.

The ereaders out now (the paperwhites) are great and cheap for some one who loves ebooks and uses kindle just for that method. If you plan on buying it just for reading books then I would definitely get the new paperwhite model here: http://amzn.to/RICssW

It comes with 3G for 179 and 119 without, it is a great gift for an avid reader.
FOR a Gift that will keep on giving I would definitely spend the couple extra bucks and go with the FIRE models. The fact that Fire is essentially a Tablet PC with all of kindles ereader goodies makes it the perfect gift compared to some of the more pricier tablets out on the market.

The Kidnle Fire HD: http://amzn.to/Qgw4xY

Starting at 159.99 and 299.99 for the HD version you get so much bank for your buck as it comes packed with its custom android type os and doubles as a ereader and tablet both.

The 4G is now available and goes for 499: http://amzn.to/YrCs6m

If 3G is fast enough for your wife or kids or whoever the gift is for them the 300 will go a long way but if your teenager is a gadget wizard and loves downloading and watching movies and games etc then you might want to get the latest and greatest for the extra money.

Fun stuff to do when bored?

Q. Any suggestions?
Please take note: no electronic gadgets.

A. Think about the end of the world in 2012! Kidding! I don't believe in that crap! Try reading a good book. I recommend the inheritance cycle (eragon, eldest, brisingr.) as it keeps you going for a while!

I'm looking for some fun things to do with 4 years old kids doing the day?
Q. maybe some games, worksheets,

A. Ask your librarian to help you find some really wonderful read-alound books.
Put on music and dance.

Make a batch of homemade play dough. Here's a great recipe:
http://www.modernparentsmessykids.com/2012/05/play-dough.html

Play hide and seek, play hide and seek with a stuffed animal (they try to find it), or hide a set of items (buttons, pennies, plastic coins, toy dinosaurs - whatever you've got!) around the room or yard for a "treasure hunt".
Draw with crayons.
Use a sheet to make a tent under a table. Play with flashlights.
Go on a nature walk or explore the yard. Most four-year-olds love to look for bugs or worms.
Collect some cardboard boxes to decorate and turn into forts, train cars, rocket ships, or almost anything else.
Go outside and blow bubbles or draw with sidewalk chalk.
Set up a little obstacle course around the house.
Bake cookies.
Play simple board games, such as Connect Four, Guess Who, Candy Land, and Hungry Hippos, matching games, or card games like Uno.
Build with blocks or Lego. If you don't have anything to build with, roll sheets of newspaper into long tubes and use masking tape to join the tubes to make structures.
Let them help with simple chores like folding towels and washing low windows.
Set up simple games using what you have on-hand, such as tossing rolled socks into a laundry basket or "bowling" with empty plastic bottles.
Fill a dish tub or other large container with water and place it on a towel to catch any drips. Give them measuring cups, funnels, whisks, and other gadgets to play with in the water. You can also add a little food coloring, baby shampoo, or ice cubes for variety.
Squeeze some shaving cream out onto the table. They can use their fingers to draw and write in the foam. It makes the room smell great and it wipes away easily when they are done.
Line up chairs in a row to play bus or train.
Tell stories together. Write down stories that they tell you so that they can make their own books.

Please skip the worksheets. They'll be drowning in them soon enough in school, and they really are a bore! Plus, it is hard to find a worksheet that meets each child's needs - they all learn at their own speed at this age, so the sheets are likely to be too hard for some and too easy for others.

007 Skyfall Questions Please Answer 10 points!!!?
Q. Okay so its a great film and I am kinda looking forward to the next, seeing as how they will be reverting to the classic James Bond movies, but I have questions!

SPOILERS IN QUESTIONS LOOK AWAY IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN FILM!

1. M (Mom) says the F word, is this the first time in the series (I believe so..)

2. While in the Skyfall orphanage, Bond gets his fathers hunting rifle.. the last name was Bond... I was under the impression that all agents are GIVEN the codename/cover James Bond, how does his father have the name?

3. I was deeply saddened by what happened to the beloved M character... and I saw how they brought Moneypenny back, and how the new M is a man, like it used to be before Judi Dench.. My question is are you optimistic or a bit worried about the next Bond movie preformances.. I mean can the man become as good and as warming of a presence as Judi Dench? Will things change, more gadgets, less physical fighting? Thoughts?

4. While given the word association test the man says "man" Bond replies "provacator" (I think) then "woman" Bond says "provocatrix" what exactly does that mean?

5. When Bond digs the bullet shrapnel out of his shoulder and hands it in to be analized he says "for our eyes only" is that a homage to the Bond film?

6. While being hacked, Q says the s word 3 times in a row.. and as I mentioned earlier the F word from M.. Bond calls M a b.... is any one else kinda worried the Bond franchise will start using all those words, I honestly think it makes the film LOSE class.. and I curse every f...... day lol..

7. Also, this is just for fun; anyone else laugh when Bond threatened to eject M from the Austin Martin and M says "I dont care bloody eject me!" lol Judi Dench will be missed... I always found her presence to be warm and motherly.. hense the name Mom..

A. 1. I think so as well. Although they call her Ma'am.

2. Skyfall was not an orphanage, but the Bond estate where young James grew up. (In the UK, many larger residences have names.) Bond was orphaned when he was about 11 or so, when his parents (Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix Bond) were killed in a mountaineering accident. Rather ironic that their home should be called "Skyfall," no? That was why his father's gun was in the domicile. That's also why his parents' headstone is on the property. The concept of James-Bond-as-job-title (like "Dread Pirate Roberts") is a fan-generated theory to accommodate why the spy in Dr. No served in WWII, but is still young and virile in 2012. I don't believe it's considered "canon." Just accept the fact that the James Bond in Dr. No is the same James Bond in Skyfall, and that certain incongruities will just exist.

3. Obviously things will change. They have to. That's life. You can't keep things the same if you wanted to, otherwise every Bond film would have been From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, or On Her Majesty's Secret Service. More/fewer gadgets? More/less fighting? More/less horizontal bopping? Who can say. I won't worry about it. What will be will be. So long as it works within the story, it's all good.

4. I don't know if "provocatrix" is an actual word, but I would take it to mean a female provocateur...one who incites someone to partake in or commit criminal acts. Basically, this means that Bond thinks nobody (male or female) is to be trusted. Remember Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. Remember Moneypenny and M at the beginning of the film, the latter giving the former authorization to take the shot which seriously wounded Bond and let the bad guy get away. In his place, I'd have trust issues, too.

5. If you watch enough Bond films, you'll notice that the later ones have plenty of homages to previous films. To be truthful, though, the terms like "for eyes only" is not unique to Bond films. It means that the information is not to be copied or transcribed in any way.

6. If every other word is F-this or C-that, then yes, that would be troublesome. But if an obscenity is used only now and then, then that can help to underline the stress the character is under. Honestly, if you were the unflappable head of MI6 and you found out that your personal laptop was being hacked, wouldn't YOU let fly with a few S-words? Also, remember that when the first Bond films came out, there were no PG or PG-13 ratings. Goldfinger was right there with Disney's Jungle Book as a G-rated film! Unless they wanted to exclude kids and teenagers from seeing a Bond film by making it R-rated, they had to keep the language clean (LOTS of kids and teens watched those films...my brother and myself were among them!) Nowadays, any action film that wants to be taken seriously would probably HAVE to have a PG-13 rating. So yes, a little swearing can filter through. Also, Connery's Bond was a bit more "Tuxes and 'Tini's" than Craig's Bond (which is more "Blood and Brawling"). Reflections of the times (or at least, competing action films)? Possibly.

7. May the ghost of Bernard Lee forgive me, but Judi Dench was fantastic. Of course, it helped that they let her get out of the office and pick up a gun on occasion. And yes, I laughed the moment they showed the ejector seat button (I'm an old-school Bond fan, so I knew what it was for). But warm and motherly? Hardly. She was about as cuddly as a sack full of nails and broken glass. But considering that she's got to ride herd on a bunch of operatives that know they have very short life expectancies, are ready, able, and WILLING to kill people, and tend to work alone, rather than be "team players," she'd *have* to be a tough lady. And Dame Judi was perfect in portraying that role. And yes, I will miss her very, very much.

How much to charge @ neighborhood garage sale 2013?

Q. Hi I am 14 and want to make extra $ and my neighborhood is having a garage sale in May and i was wondering what to charge for these items:
- pants (old navy, the buckle, gap, target, aeropostle, american eagle)
- Shirts (American Eagle, Hollister, Disney, Aeropostle, Target, Gordmons, Forever 21)
- Toys
- Books (Hard back kids, chapter books)

Thanks!!

A. To get people to buy things at a garage sale you need to price them pretty low. The pants should be $1.00 to $1.25 unless they're almost new. In that case maybe $2.00. The shirts should sell for between 75 cents and a dollar. Toys if they're pretty used maybe $1.00 and the same with books.

Is Disney World or Universal Studios better for someone who does not go on thrill rides?

Q. This is probably really early but i am going to Orlando Florida with my family next August and I wanted to know which park is better for someone like me, who is not into roller coasters. I have been to both theme parks back in 2006 and i had fun at both but i wanted to see which one is better in other people's eyes. So please give me an answer and your experience at either park plz and thank you
by the way i wanted to know if u recommend either park for teens and children
i am also a 16 year old

A. It is never to late to plan for Disney. We make the trip every other year. Our last trip will be in 2011. Sadly, we will be taking a break for 2013, since my daughter will be graduating high school, and the focus will be transitioning her to her new life. We hope to make it back in 2014.

First spend the money on the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney, the 2011 guide will be out in the near future. We never plan a trip without it. No I make no commision off recommending the book, but it has been helpful. Next, I've placed some helpful websites for you below. The All Ears gang is just great at giving advice and they send out monthly updates for your planning. If a ride is going down for maintenace, you will be in the know! Sorry Universal doesn't offer anything like All Ears, if they do, I don't know about it. Maybe someone reading this can advise. Mousesavers is another site, that is very helpful in planning and I use Mouseguest just to get some more info, Deb's folks are the best at giving advice when it comes to the World!

As for the parks, well if you have little ones we advise the Magic Kingdom, it is never a good day at the Kingdom as for crowds, so pack the water in your backpack. I'd suggest heading the teenagers head to the coaster ride since it is long wait and just misearble in the heat, and your heading in August, so cool is the word. FAST Pass the Buzz Light Year ride or wait until the parade and fireworks display and hit it as many times, since no one rides it late at night. If your a Pirates nut like me, I wait until the fireworks and ride the ride with the wife.

As for Disney Hollywood, go Fast Pass on Toy Story ride. If possible, send a runner with all your tickets, get their and so you can FAST Pass it in a half an hour, if not the lines are just nuts. Then meet in front of the ride, go in and have the kids take a picture with Woody and Buzz, the lines are nuts after 11. You will be glad you did, then ride Toy Story, then head to Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollercoaster. My daughter gives a 5 of 10 on Rockin. My son gives a 6 of 10 on Tower of Terror, but they've made updates to the ride this year, so next year when we go, should have some new twist.

My son will tell you that DisneyQuest in Downtown Disney is great. He spends about 8 hours there when we go. Never have to drop a quarter on games. He loves that. Ride the Pirate ride, but get there early.

As for waterparks, both Blizzard and Typhoon give thumbs up from my son. Daughter doesn't care for water parks, but it is a hair thing for her. All about looking good. You know teenage girls. So normally my son and I head to the waterpark with his friend and the girls shop at the Outlet malls for the day.

As for Universal, Hulk gets a 6 of 10, and Dragon Challenge gets a 7 of 10 for rides. Both kids didn't care for it that much, we had a five day pass, they used only two days of it. My daughter will have a friend along for 2011, and they plan to do it in one day. Son doesn't even want to head to Universal. Opting for the waterpark at Aquatica.

When staying at the World, then I normally let the olders one come back to the room when they want. Next year, we will have our rig (we drive from Texas) and one rental for the girls (since we are staying at a timeshare this time).

At the time of this posting, both my teenagers give the thumbs up to Disney for overall satisfaction. Opt for a two day at Universal, if you plan to stay for a week. Note for Adult nightlife, head to City Walk, since Pleasure Island is now closed.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation. Hope this post helps.
